Free sofa - Bergen b/t Classon Grand
No bedbugs.
Crate & Barrel Cameron sleeper sofa in good condition. Won't fit into my apartment. I don't know what else to do, so someone is getting a really nice freebie. FUCK.
Edited to add: I don't have any way of delivering this to you. If you've got a truck, come on over. It's still out there. If someone takes it I'll post again.

oh no! why won't it fit?
-
It was just too big to get in the door. It would help if the hallway ceiling was about two inches taller. We tried every whichaway, and it just would NOT go. It was the same dimensions as my old sofa, but I didn't take into account that my old sofa was sort of collapsible and that's how they got it in when I moved here. This one just wouldn't go.
Fucking sucks. I'm out several hundred dollars, feel like a complete idiot, and now have no sofa at all and no way to afford a new one for at least another month if not two. -
will removing any moldings help? Are we talking dry wall or plaster lathe construction?
open the bottom of the couch: see any bolts? -
Sofa's gone now. Someone got quite a freebie.
Believe me, we DID try everything. -
that is
so
sad.

crap. I wish I had seen this in time. I'm in the market for a new sofa. Ah,well

I did take the two throw pillows that came with it. The way I figure it, those pillows cost me 200 bucks each.

Maybe its the anal accountant in me, but I always measure, remeasure and write down the measurements before going shopping for furniture. I also check the dimensions of elevators and doors in apartments if I think they're unusually small. When I wanted to buy my current sofa, I had to wait months while they replaced the elevator in the apartment I was then living in. The new elevator was quite a bit smaller than the old elevator and it dictated the size of the sofa I could buy (the stairs would have required even smaller furniture). One of my neighbors in that building had moved in with the old elevator, and moved out with the new - his armoir wouldn't fit in the elevator and the super ended up chopping it up for the trash.

Why didn't you sell it?
-
Man, that sucks.
We had to leave a couch when we moved this month too. It just didn't fit in the truck. I totally underestimated how much stuff we had, and got the 10ft truck when I should have gotten the 14ft. It was already our second trip, and we only had like an hour to get all the way to the new place and then drop the truck off at u-haul.
Well, I hope your new couch--when you get it--is so awesome that you forget the old one!! I got a good deal at Macy's on my new one. It seems to be prime furniture sale time. -
I second Macy's. I got a great deal on a sofa from them. Also, the delivery guys were awesome and managed to fit the couch in when honestly, it shouldn't have fit.
-
Yes, the delivery guys were VERY fast. In the time it took my husband to take something from the living room to the bedroom, they had the thing in the door and in position. Really. Fast.
-
The other good thing about Macy's is that if it doesn't fit in the apartment, they don't count it as delivered and they don't charge you for it (they take it back), or at least that's what the salesman told me when I bought my stuff at Macy's.

Thanks all.
I'm more in the Ikea/Overstock.com/Craigslist budget range than the Macy's budget range, but I'll keep that in mind. -
Oh, and Macy's does have 6 months no interest no payments if you use a Macy's card.
Actually, though, Overstock does have some of the same ones Macy's carries, so you may luck out and get a great deal! -
I stalked my sofa until it went from just over a thousand to below 650.00. I used my Macy's card and got the 6 months no interest deal, too. My mother just bought two rocker/recliners (leather/vinyl mix) for under 800.00. If you can afford to be patient (and with no current sofa, this might not be your case), it can be worth it to check them out online, particularly around Thanksgiving for their sales. Honestly, their delivery alone will keep me coming back.

mine was from ikea so it came in a tiny box and i put it together. i don't know how i'm getting 99% of my stuff out of here when i move..
