Wonderful Dog Groomer Recommendation!!!

I have never had my King Charles Spaniel (see avatar) groomed because of all the horror stories I have heard about grooming salons in this city, and I've always found it easy to wash him myself at home.

However, after we were away for several weeks and my poor fluffy dog became a series of tangles due to lack of brushing. I saw a flyer for a professional dog groomer in Park Slope and called the number. I am SO glad I did.

Sherri the groomer (I believe she posted something on here as GroomingGoddess) is fantastic, and her prices are very reasonable. She came to my home last night and gave my scruffy pup a very thorough and gentle grooming. She was so sweet and patient with him, and did a wonderful job. She got out all the tangles, clipped his nails, trimmed his ears, and did it all with great care. He looks beautiful, smells great, and best of all was not traumatised by the experience at all (and he's a pretty sensitive guy) - he even gave her a kiss when she was finished!

If you're looking for someone to groom your dog (she also does cats, guinea pigs, llamas and apparently even groomed a tiger - ask her about that one!) in your home or her's, give her a call. She's been a professional groomer for over 20 years, has recently moved to Brooklyn and is starting her business.

Her phone number is: (347) 244-1265

(Note: I am not shilling, just trying to help someone who does a genuinely good job get started in this neighborhood, which I know can be tough)

  • Questions! Did she use your tub or does she have some kind of mobile grooming van? Will she crawl under my bed and pull out a simpering, quaking 70 lbs. puddle of dog and force him to "get in the goddamn tub!"??
  • She used my kitchen sink, actually, because my dog is small and that's where he's used to being bathed, but I imagine she would use your bathtub (or her's if you take your dog there - a "new adventure" might work with him). She was very gentle and calming with my little guy who quakes with fear at just about everything, so I imagine she'd be able to convince your dog that a bath was, if not fun, at least something tolerable...
