Gunman Shoots 4 at Brooklyn Hair Salon
By Al Baker
A gunman in Brooklyn shot four people on Monday afternoon, including an off-duty police officer who was having her hair done, the police said. At least one of the four victims, an unidentified man, was dead after the shooting inside a hair salon that runs from Fulton Street to Hanson Place in Fort Greene.
A law enforcement official said the gunman began shooting at people – but it was unclear why.
The gunman chased on of the victims into the beauty parlor and opened fire on several people inside. The off-duty officer was sitting in a chair having her hair cut, the police said. She was not acting in a capacity as a law enforcement officer and did not return fire. Her injuries did not appear to be life threatening, the official said.
The shop goes through the length of a city block: Its address is 704 Fulton Street on one side and 91 Hanson Place on the other.
As officers descended on the scene, the gunman was on the loose and had not been immediately caught, the official said. -
Holy shit. I heard the helicopters -- I knew something was up. Damn! This, combined with the body in the box near the park and the shooting on St. Felix is starting to be quite unsettling indeed.
-
thats crazy... I hope nobody is seriously injured.
Do you know the name of the salon? -
i think its called De Lux
-
Yes, DeLux is the salon..right outside of the Lafayette Ave C stop.
What a sad, horrible thing. Reports are now saying 5 people were shot, one fatally.
Does anyone know whether the streets are still closed? -
I've been watching 5:00 news and NY1 and I believe the streets are still closed. If you're coming home from work and live in the immediate area you may not be able to get into your home.
-
You can probably get home, although you might have to show id with your address if you are super close to the scene.
Many of the streets are closed to car traffic but open for pedestrians, blocks away on either side. A bunch of C train exits were blocked off this afternoon when I was trying to get out at Lafayette Ave stop.
What a terrible thing. This afternoon, someone said a passerby was shot too. Is that true? I also heard 5 shot, one fatality. -

The Cowboys of Fort Green are hungry, mmmmmmmmm.... It used to be the most prized endgame on Wall Street: the invitation into one of the most exclusive, talented partnerships in the world. But with derogatory nicknames popping up like "GS Bank" and "Buffett Capital," is it really worth it to drink all that Kool-Aid anymore? Meow!!! The kids have to eat, and kids can't eat CDO's. Look what the bad economy is doing. Someone call the great decider he'll fix it.

Sorry, what?

(studies this, frowning)
....Fascinating....the words are definitely English words, the syntax is all correct, but this has still somehow been leached entirely of coherance and sense. -
Sounds like HAL with a couple of sticks pulled out

very well put. I had to read it three times and I still didn't understand it. -
Did they ever find the shooters?
-
Not that I have heard/read. I think they're still posting extra police on Fulton St, though...
-
They arrested one of two suspects. The shooter.
-
I feel like I've seen a lot more cops on patrol since this happened, and I live up by Myrtle.
