Obedience classes?

Hi all! This site has been a fountain of information, I figured I'd drop by herw with a quick question.

I recently adopted a great little dog from Animal Countrol and for the most part things are going well. I am hoping to start some obedience classes to reinforce what we have already done, as well as to work on some little things. I know Petco offers classes - but I was wondering if anyone knew of any trainers (group training would be good) in the Park Slope, BoCoCa, Prospect Heights area. Any recommendations?

  • Hi DDA, I'm actually in a similar situation. I have a new puppy that I'd like to get trained. I did a quick search and found good things about "Empire of Dog" or "Empire of the Dogs"? It's in Brooklyn and so far she's had nothing but stellar reviews.

  • Hi hi - I also just got a great little dog from AC&C (by way of a rescue) and have been looking into some classes for her - something like a level 2 obedience and some intro agility for her little energetic self!

Here's a place I came across online: http://www.semperfidony.com/index.html They seem to have some nice options.

Unfortunately classes at both Empire and Semper Fido are a bit much for my budget right now. Has anyone heard of any other places that are slightly more affordable? There was an awesome place in Staten Island that I found - $160 for eight weeks of class (with a 10% discount for adopted & neutered dogs)...but it is in SI and I have no car. http://www.sicdtc.info/ if you're interested.
  • I heard about a Jamaican guy who teaches obedience classes in Prospect Park, but I don't know any more details than that.
  • Try Renee Payne. She works out of Monster Mutt. Her is her website: http://www.doggiecouch.com.

    Good luck!
  • At the vet today I saw a brochure for Semper Fido as well as one for Pumpkin Pups - http://www.pumpkinpups.com No class lists/prices on the website, though.
