Found Cat - Black and White - on Spencer and Willoughby
Very friendly black and white cat found on Spencer Street and Willoughby.
Unfortunately, I can't keep it and am going to have to take it to a shelter in the morning. But she's obviously someone's pet (she practically leapt into my arms) and hadn't eaten in awhile, she's on her third bowl of food.
Please see picture below.

Please don't take her to a shelter yet. There are groups you can contact on the pet section of this board.
It was really great of you to pick her up in the first place. -
Most of the shelters that I called aren't able to take in anymore animals but luckily a friend of mine is keeping the cutie until I can find a home for it. It's really the coolest cat. Really chill and loves to cuddle. So hopefully we'll find it's owner or a new home soon.

Check the sticky on the top of this board. Lots of places to call. Don't forget to make fliers and post on craigslist. Repost on craigslist often.

Sean Casey Animal Rescue. Search the board for the contact info. they are tops.

Don't worry guys, nobody's giving the cat to a shelter.
We took the cat to a vet, and it's microchipped. However, the owner's number has been disconnected. Contacting the microchip company now to see if they will provide other info besides their phone number.
But in the meantime, we found out the little guy's name is Pooh and it's a boy, neutered. So if this rings a bell for anyone, please let me know.
Thanks! -
Update: A friend of mine is taking the cat.

yipee! now we have to find homes for the 8 million other kitties out there on the street. On a side note, can any recommend a catch/spay-neuter/release program? THere is an abandoned construction site near my house that is crawling with feral cats...

How sad:(
But do you mean recommend a program that will come out and trap/neuter/release the cats for you? That's almost impossible to come by, given how limited resources are in nyc.
However if you're willing to be part of the process, there is a lot of support out there. The first step is to take the short workshop offered by Neighborhood Cats, which will entitle you to free spay/neuter services, free trap loans, coaching, and other assistance, and will connect you with others in the local TNR community, who can help you out. See http://www.neighborhoodcats.org. -
Thank you for that--I am checking them out right now.
