  • annmarie walton: We miss you on here and say hello to Gabby for us. She's a great kid. HEY, who stole the kid's candy at the reunion????? I told her that if she gave me her address, I would mail her some candy.

  • Terry: You exhaust me with all your running around and baby sitting, lol. I don't know where you get the energy. Well, maybe from your mother since she was a get up and goer also. And I do remember her in the uniform as clear as day she popped up in my mind in it.
  • THAZT S WH I AM NOT ON LATE AT NIGHT WITH U GUYS I CANT STAY UP BEEN GOING TO BED AROUND 11 PM BECAUSE THE MORNING COMES SO FAST. Watching the baby at my house is not bad but traveling to bklyn on the other days is a pain in the ass.

  • FROM MY GRANDKIDS
    REALLY THERE MOTHER
    How old is Grandpa???

Stay with this -- the answer is at the end. It will blow you away.

One evening a grandson was talking to his grandfather about current events.
The grandson asked his grandfather what he thought about the shootings at
schools, the computer age, and just things in general.

The Grandfather replied, 'Well, let me think a minute, I was born before:

    television
    penicillin
    polio shots
    frozen foods
    Xerox
    contact lenses
    Frisbees and
    the pill

    There were no:
    credit cards
    laser beams or
    ball-point pens

    Man had not invented:
    pantyhose
    air conditioners
    dishwashers

    clothes dryers
and the clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air and
man hadn't yet walked on the moon

Your Grandmother and I got married first, . . and then lived together.

Every family had a father and a mother.

Until I was 25, I called every man older than me, 'Sir'.
And after I turned 25, I still called policemen and every man with a title,
    'Sir.'

We were before gay-rights, computer- dating, dual careers,
    daycare centers, and group therapy.

Our lives were governed by the Ten Commandments,
    Good judgment, and common sense.

We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong
and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions.

Serving your country was a privilege; living in this country
    was a bigger privilege.

We thought fast food was what people ate during Lent.

Having a meaningful relationship meant getting along with your cousins.

Draft dodgers were people who closed their front doors
    when the evening breeze started.

Time-sharing meant time the family spent together
in the evenings and weekends-not purchasing condominiums.

We never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CDs, electric typewriters,
    yogurt, or guys wearing earrings..

We listened to the Big Bands, Jack Benny,
And the President's speeches on our radios.

And I don't ever remember any kid blowing his brains out
    Listening to Tommy Dorsey.

If you saw anything with 'Made in Japan ' on it, it was junk

The term 'making out' referred to how you did on your school exam.

Pizza Hut, McDonald's, and instant coffee were unheard of.

We had 5 &10-cent stores where you could actually
buy things for 5 and 10 cents.

Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar,
And a Pepsi were all a nickel.

And if you didn't want to splurge, you could spend
your nickel on enough stamps to mail 1 letter and 2 postcards.

You could buy a new Chevy Coupe for $600, . . . but who could afford one?
Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon.

    In my day:

    'grass' was mowed,

    'coke' was a cold drink,

'pot' was something your mother cooked in and

'rock music' was your grandmother's lullaby.

'Aids' were helpers in the Principal's office,

' chip' meant a piece of wood,
'hardware' was found in a hardware store and
    'software' wasn't even a word.

And we were the last generation to actually believe
That a lady needed a husband to have a baby.
No wonder people call us 'old and confused' and say
there is a generation gap... and how old do you think I am?

I bet you have this old man in mind...you are in for a shock!

Read on to see -- pretty scary if you think about it and
pretty sad at the same time.

    Are you ready ?????

This man would be only 59 years old

Imagine !!! Kinda makes some of you wonder how we ever managed, doesn’t it ! !

Showed my son all your birthday wishes and he said THANKS ! This is his waffle cake, yum.
Just finished the last waffles left from the B.D. and off he goes back to college.
As you can see he has been teaching me a few things. At first I said this is hard, smart --- said me learning is nothing compared to the torture of teaching. So glad he is back to his old self not feel-n sick anymore, I can tell by his mouth. Nothing like a mother's TLC and they are back to normal. Love him / good kid

Time to catch up on reading.

  • PRAYER FOR LEADERSHIP

    Give us, O God,
leaders whose hearts are large enough
to match the breadth of our own souls
and give us souls strong enough
to follow leaders of vision and wisdom.

    In seeking a leader,
let us seek more than development
    for ourselves —
though development we hope for —
more than security for our own land —
    though security we need —
more than satisfaction for our wants —
    though many things we desire.

Give us the hearts to choose
the leader who will work with other
    leaders to bring safety
    to the whole world
    .

    Give us leaders
who lead this nation to virtue
without seeking to impose our kind of virtue
    on the virtue of others.

    Give us a government
    that provides for the advancement
    of this country
    without taking resources from others
    to achieve it.

    Give us insight enough ourselves
to choose as leaders those who can tell
    strength from power,
    growth from greed,
    leadership from dominance,
and real greatness from the trappings
    of grandiosity.

    We trust you, Great God,
to open our hearts to learn from those
to whom you speak in different tongues
and to respect the life and words
of those to whom you entrusted
the good of other parts of this globe.

    We beg you, Great God,
give us the vision as a people
to know where global leadership truly lies,
    to pursue it diligently,
to require it to protect human rights
    for everyone everywhere.

We ask these things, Great God,
with minds open to your word
and hearts that trust in your eternal care.

    Amen
    .

    Love &
God Bless America & the Election,

    [color=blue]Francesca

Howdy: Wow i was reading the inputs from last night and that was some break through; u all were venting that was good, you were all abused by the nuns and priests. Jesus said, "Let the children come unto me." He didn't say anything about abusing them. Jesus was compassionate, loving just to name a few. So last night was a breakthrough. Terry: I think Janet was right, maybe Jesus didn't want you there confessing, confessing for what!!!! venting your anger, your nightmares. Remember Anthony used to say they would put him in the closet. that doesn't sound like "Let the children come unto me." That sounds like child abuse. You all should feel free, free from all that abuse. I applaud all of you.

    Hola:

I hope you all had a good day and a good weekend, i see that some went shopping, so did i, but i went shopping for myself, i went with Carol Riches, she was at the reunion. we had a good time, then we went out to eat. I did manage to clean a bit in the a.m. then i came home and cleaned out my closet i still had my summer clothes in it. Enough of me

Today i saw Denise she was in St. Anna's talking to Louie Vivenzio. She's a strong girl, she went back to work. She is still very very sad, as to be expected. I told her that we all miss her, she said that she and Lisa were not ready to come back to the blog yet. It's hard for her to deal with the condolences. She did say she would come back. She and Lisa need our prayers.

Milly D: I was up reading the thread this morning but i just couldn't get logged on, i wanted to respond to you but i couldn't get on.

Terry and Linda: When i read your input, i never look at the misspelled words, i figured it is your way of shorthand, because it's always legible. I am not the best speller, i cheat, i use an electronic Franklin dictionary and Thesaurus.

Carol: Your waffle cake is making me hungry. i used to make home-made waffles. i stopped because it's too many carbs, but it surely looked mighty good. I am sure you all had a good time.

Umbria: Your poem brought back many many memories.

I was running some errands today, and i noticed the "Berkley Store" sign. Does anyone remember Berkley women store on 16th street on 5th Avenue. They sold fine suits, coats and dresses. (Way before Aarons) They are renovating the store, i looked up and there it was the sign.

Linda Joy: White eagle was first on 17 street on 5th Avenue, when the father had it, then they moved to 18th street on fifth.

Debbie: I hope you feel better.

I want to say that everyone here is very talented and have a great sense of humor. i will leave you with these words: A cheerful heart brings a smile to your face; a sad heart makes it hard to get through the day. So keep on smiling and having breakthroughs.
