Its true....Bruce Ratner has no sole.
ha haaaaa -
Any idea what kind of shoes? Is this going to fit in with the more one-off kind of places like Threads and the place on Pacific and Dean or is this going to be a more run-of-the-mill place?

Walked by and have to say yours is the perfect description

I've been by it (though not gone in).
I don't get it. Who are the customers for these shoes? It's not a trendy boutique, nor is it a sensible shoe place (a la all those places in Park Slope)
Is there really a market for furry high heeled boots and faux blue alligator men's shoes? -
I actually went in today while doing my neighborhood tour and I was actually impressed with a lot of the selection. I saw some mid-level brand shows (via spiga, for instance), a lot of variety for the size of the store, and what looked to be a healthy spill-over from pieces customers wanting shoes to go with their garments. their bags were really nice and very nicely priced. granted, around 50% of them are heavily embellished and I'm not personally into that. but I know plenty of folks who appreciate this style, so I'm glad there's a store here that can support that market.
they had a lot of leather jackets and fur coats - nothing I'm really in the market for right now, but I saw people in their buying matching leather jackets and shoes, as well as placing orders for other outerwear in fur and leather.
I actually *didn't* look in their window, so I have no idea what the display is like - I was coming from delicacies so I didn't get to see why folks are making snap judgments based on the front window.
anyway, this store reminds me of a lot of the shoe/leather stores in manhattan - I'm thinking of one particular area between union square and chelsea where there are like 30 of these on side streets or 7th avenue. not sure where brighton beach comes in to play, but I've never been there and have no idea what sort of class/race commentary that brings into play.
(and no, I don't work there or derive any cash from their business or my snippetty review of the business) -

Wasn't race/class commentary it is just that the shoes in the window look like the displays in the windows of every shoe store in Brighton Beach that I have seen, i.e., lots of snake, aligator type skins, pointy toes, lots of embellishments. I have been in there and I do like some of their shoes. -

Self conscious liberalism is what make this message board so much fun! -

ahh, ok. closest I've been is coney island or JFK so I was just like "huh? should I know something about furry handbags?"
