  • would it be possible to have someone from the Traffic Dept attend and address the life threatening problems of,

red lights being ignored on PPW and PPSW

speeding on PPW while on cell phones

Illegal parking in Bus Stops and
outside Connecticut Muffin creating hazardous crossing situations

don't forget all of the cars who almost mow down people in Bartel Pritchard Square turning on to 15th Street.

If you could get somebody there who can actually do something about THAT, I will be there and I will drag Potter with me
  • Unfortunately, we won't be able to get someone from DOT at the Nov. 13, 6:30 p.m. Windsor Terrace Alliance meeting. Thanks to Bill de Blasio, we were invited to a meeting with DOT last week and expressed our serious concerns about several roads including PPSW, Bartel Pritchard, and Park Circle. They seemed interested in turning more attention to some of our local traffic problems.

We didn't have an opportunity to mention every problem area but once the DOT's attention is shifted more towards our neighborhood, there hopefully will be opportunity for this. If you want this issue raised at the meeting, please come and ask for either me (Lauren), Patti, or Phyllis prior to the meeting and we can add you to the traffic section of the agenda, so you won't have to wait till the end of the meeting. Recent WTA meetings have included reps from all the local elected officials, CB7 and police dept. so people with the power to address this problem should be there.

Also, please note that the location of the Nov. 13 meeting will still be at Holy Name but will now be at Shepherd's Hall which has more space.

  • As i just wrote in another thread, maybe at this meeting you can discuss why 9th ave stopped putting up christmas light strings, and how we could get them back up.
  • anyone want to share what happened at the meeting? was talk of 9th ave christmas light brought up?
  • I spoke with a few store owners ,who stated the owners of the lights wanted to charge too much for rental .

The last time the lights were used the charge was $250.00 a store , the cost has since gone up and the owners feel it isn't worth it.
  • that sounds like a ridonkulous ripoff for the store owners

what? $250 a store? are you serious? as much as i'd like to see the lights back, now i understand why they're gone. oh, well. thanks for asking, and telling me.
  • i stopped in the card store today, and they already have a super nice christmas set up in there. let's just hope more stores and houses put up nice christmas displays, because now i agree it's not worth it for 9th ave to have those big strings. at $250 per store
