A Few of My Favorite Things — Brooklynian

A Few of My Favorite Things

Since we've already fantasized about what the nabe needs, how about we share what it's already got? We all know Pomme de Terre kicks butt and Vox Pop is fly, but what else is there to do/see/shop/eat in the area?

I'm afraid I haven't really found anything noteworthy except for the abandoned BPL lot, so I am hoping you all can show me the wonders of the nabe. The more info (price-range, best times to visit, nearest train/stop, scenic walks, etc), the better!

  • Vox Pop is a blight on civilization. That place is just so wrong.
  • Just wander around and see what you find. Not even sure exactly what it is you are looking for. Bars/restaurants? Cultural events? Cool architecture? Go to the ditmas park blog, flatbush vegan or flatbush pigeon and see what they have to say.
  • If you haven't already, you should check out Sycamore - the new bar-cum-flowershop on Coretlyou. It's a nice spot, though they need to turn up the lights just a tad. (maybe they have, haven't been in a week or so)

Just a stroll around the streets about an hour before sunset... the single-family home streets with the huge tree canopies. Beautiful. (Like argyle, north of Ave H)

Oh - I agree (to an extent) about Vox Pop. totally indifferent to the social agenda they are trying to accomplish - though I'm sure they could be more effective with that -- but the service is crap and the prices are very high.... and not that worth it.

That's funny, since the last time I was there, about a week ago, the place was swarming with fruit flies.
