Home Decorators Collection

I was looking at some bathroom vanities from this catalog. The prices seem very reasonable - too reasonable, I guess. I am aware that this is not high end stuff, but I was wondering how it might compare to a big box store? I need a small vanity and top for our 2nd bathroom, mainly used as a powder room, not every day bathing/showering etc.
Any thoughts on product quality from this catalog?

  • We bought a white cabinet for our bathroom from Home Decorators. It was tough to put together and some of the paint chipped off which we can't cover up so that was a bummer. But overall the piece is still standing and serving as a great storage unit. It's probably equal quality to Ikea but not as inexpensive. It has served us well because it is the style and size we were looking for. Don't expect super high quality. Good luck.
  • My Mom has bought furniture from Landscape Designers Seattle and it's very good and heavy wood. Not cheap or flimsy.
  • We bought a bookshelf from there about a year ago. Super-flimsy and cheap-looking, and customer service was not terribly helpful in organizing the return. We may have gotten stuck with a lemon, but we'll never order again to find out.
  • I got a sideboard from them a year or 2 ago. I ended up with an extra piece that would simply NOT fit where it was supposed to (a center stabilizing leg), but it really wasn't necessary for its final use. It looks great, all the doors open and shut nicely and it serves its purpose well. I actually find it to be a half-step up from Ikea quality, but it's certainly no West Elm. I like 'em. :)
