Meeting professionals over 40 in the nabe
Does anyone have suggestions for meeting educated professionals (people who know that Africa is a continent not a country, among other things) over 40 in the Slope/Heights/C. Gardens areas? I think they must all be hiding at home raising kids with their spouses or something because I rarely meet people in my age group around here (I'm 42).
My friends in Manhattan only deign to come to Brooklyn about once a year. I don't want to go into Manhattan on the weekends anymore. I'm looking to meet people who have jobs and can afford to go out once in awhile (I've been picking up a lot of tabs recently for friends who are un-/underemployed). I'm friendly and talk to random strangers in line about the weather, etc., so my outgoing nature is not the issue.
I appreciate any helpful suggestions.

Start a cat collection. By 45 you should be well on your way to becoming "the cat lady".

and there is nothing wrong with that at all. one of my dearest friends aspires to be "the cat lady" one day. and i plan on being the mean old man who lives next door to her and kids are afraid to hit their baseballs into my yard. it's gonna be awesome. -

This is probably a totally obvious answer, but have you tried volunteering? I met a ton of people this way when I first moved back here four years ago. (Coincidentally to the previous posts, it involved animal welfare :cat: !)

Also, come check out the Brooklynian events. We have them every so often (bar crawls, happy hours, Festivus). Age range is wide and people are friendly.

Subject: When do they occur?
Where are the events posted (home page)? Thanks WUW. -
They get posted "globally," meaning that they'll be on the top of every page you visit.
Howdy, Stranger!
