Brick Oven Pizza at Nostrand Ave Union St. — Brooklynian

Brick Oven Pizza at Nostrand Ave Union St.

I haven't seen any threads on this, but it looks like there's a new (kind of, been there at least a couple of weeks) Italian take out place at Nostrand Ave. and Union St. I haven't had a chance yet to try it out yet, but it looks pretty nice and it looks like it gets decent business from the times I walked by. I can't recall the name at the moment, but does anyone know what I'm talking about or tried them out yet?

  • Are you kidding? You think a great new place like this went undiscovered by investigative Brooklynian eyes? Silly boy....

  • Well played. HOWEVER, that is also from a generic pizza thread from the Prospect Heights board. Thus, I hereby declare this the official Crown Heights Brick Oven Pizza thread in the name of, um, all mankind.

And it is yummy. And not just their pizza, the other fare is good as well.
  • I saw this place under construction a few months ago...thanks for posting that it's now open! Plan on trying it soon, we really needed a good pizza place in the immediate area. =D>
  • Have you guys tried their pasta dishes or sandwiches? Or just the pizza?
  • I haven't had any sandwich, but their pasta and rice balls were good fo shure.
  • Incidentally, I believe this brick oven pizza joint has the same owner as Tavern on Nostrand, a nice bar/restaurant across the street and about a block down Nostrand, on the corner of President. Spoke to him once or twice, a nice guy.
  • Bang, zoom, pow! I, that felt good. Sorry never ate at the place but will check it out on words of "daver."
  • I've only had their pizza dough - as prepared by WYW - and it was delicious. stunning, really, for local pizza. I'm hoping to make it there before I move to acquire some rice balls. I love rice balls. and yeah, that sounds all wrong but they are yummy.

They are really good there. And big. And cheesy.

    Yum.
  • big, cheesy balls? I'm in. heh
  • Oh jah! And just let me be _perfectly clear_ here, that when I am referring to "big, cheesy balls," and am referring _only_ to the yummy rice confections at the aforementioned brick oven of goodness, and not to- Well, anything else that might possibly get me _in trouble_. It isn't a metaphor, it isn't a vehicle, it is just what it is: big cheesy balls of goodness. That said, these balls are _definitely_ for carnivores, as they do contain meat with their cheese. I did find them to be large balls, although the outer breaded skin was rather thin, non-existent perhaps. They quickly devolved into more of a big cheesy blob than a big cheesy ball. FWIW. But they were really good to eat!

  • I made an attempt to eat there but when I walked in, the cashier was on her cell phone and did not greet me, and I waited, but then the pizza maker came in from outside smoking and went right back into tossing the dough! Oh me and my bf saw that and walked right out, we just headed to downtown manhattan to one of our favorite spots. I was so disappointed!
  • But the savory, smoky and delectable presence of nicotine can only improve dough!

Um. I quit smoking recently. Again.
