ProHo really needs a bakery

We really need a bakery in our neighborhood. I am not asking for anything fancy -- just a place where we can get fresh bread and some baked goods. Bread and cupcakes -- is that too much to ask?

Yo business moguls, how 'bout it?

  • only i had money. i love to open a bakery hehe.
  • Maybe we could get nybt (wants to open a new business in the neighborhood) and Cupcake (obsessed with cupcakes) together to work on this project.
  • I love that idea. And in my fantasy version there would also be a butcher's next door. I know you agree with me on that one, Carnivore.
  • Heard from a reliable source the a bakery/pastry is coming into the space that once housed the fish market next to Met Foods on Vanderbilt.

OMG that would be great. Please let them sell cupcakes.
  • Wasnt there supposed to be a bakery coming to the corner of Vanderbilt and St. Marks or Bergen??

Absolutely. That's tops on my wish list for the neighborhood.

The emptiness of that storefront has been baffling me for two years. Does anyone have a clue as to what happened? They redid the whole building, and I never saw anyone move in. This would be on Vanderbilt at St Marks, opposite Pena's/catty-corner to Soda.

That's the one!!! Actually Stacey (Red Lipstick) would probably have the scoop. She usually has the inside info for most of the new merchants on Vanderbilt.

it's my understanding that that is going to be the location of the Korean restaurant (should that ever actually happen). I thought Toli (owner of Soda) was investing in that, but I don't know him well enough to ask for a status report.
