Curbed.com has open polls for the neighborhood of the year and no other place in NYC deserves it more than Prospect Heights (and DH). So, go vote! Voting closes at noon on Sunday.

Good for the entire community ... in a number of ways ... think of what Prospect Heights was in the 1980's ... it's quite, quite remarkable ... and congrats (again) to Andy (and to Candissima for bringing this to everyone's attention) and DH in general ... you guys are great.

    Yeah totally. There's a bit of sour grapes over there cause I publicized the poll and we're kicking ass. Well, it's not password protected, so what's stopping any other neighborhood from doing the same thing? Oh, that's right: they suck! Go Prospect Heights! 8)

    So now we're getting accused of ballot box stuffing, huh? I wrote this as a comment for Curbed, but decided to hold off on posting it:

    2005 was the year of Prospect Heights, no question about it, for the reasons Candicissima described and much more (see the Sunday NYT profile of Prospect Heights from two weeks ago). The rapid transformation of this neighborhood has just been awesome, and sometimes frightening, to behold. And in a lot of ways, our experience is a microcosm version of what's happening in the city at large, particularly in terms of the real estate/socioeconomic trends that have gripped the city and are really just unprecedented and unparalleled in America.

    So the influence of Daily Heights in the alleged ballot-box stuffing in this poll is just a symptom of that change... we're just along for the ride. These happen to be real people who are fiercely proud of a neighborhood that's been tremendously underappreciated for years, and is now battling the forces of change that you all are experiencing, too. Their pride is really remarkable, considering that PH is definitely not the "coolest" or "tonyest" neighborhood in New York, and never will be. And yes, they really do read Curbed. A lot.

    Getting out the vote is not ballot box stuffing. The fact that we're cohesive enough as a neighborhood to turn out this kind of voting block (largely thanks to Andy's hard work, but also due to DDDB) is only further evidence that we deserve to win this year.
