Recycling??

I live on 13th street between 7th and 8th. It appears no one picked up our recycling today. Anyone else have this problem recently?

  • Could it have been due to Veteran's Day yesterday?
  • On review, that probably doesn't make any sense.
  • Same here, on 16th St.
  • NYC has discontinued the recycling program -- times are tough.
  • It was the Veteran's Day issue. Here's the calendar of dates that recycling doesn't get picked up.

  • I live in CH and our Wed recycling did not get picked up until this am. Still waiting for them to get paper as all that's been taken so far is bottles
  • We didn't get ours picked up from 6th street on Wednesday. I saw a sanitation car cruising the street early evening last night, and it was picked up this morning.
  • Make sure you call 311 to complain. they will give you a case number that you have to right down. If you get a ticket you just present that number and they throw it out of court.

happened to me many times in park slope. Always call 311 when a garbage pick up is missed...especially now that the city is looking to drown the city in tickets.
  • The only program NYC has cancelled is leaf pickup. The last 2 years you had to place them in a large brown paper bag and it was collected to be made into mulch. This year they discontinued it and you are supposed to throw out the leaves with the trash.
  • There was a bunch of Tuesday holidays, so if that's your recycling day you may go without for a few weeks . . . and I wonder if that bumps into the Weds as they go back for the Tues pickups.

When there's a holiday two weeks in a row it's usually a bit of a mess.
