FOUND cat in Crown Heights tonight, need advice....

We went out for a smoke and this beautiful cat, no more than 6 months old, came up to us and rubbed itself against our legs and meowed. Seemed healthy, not starved or anything and most certainly domesticated. It was a short haired tuxedo with white whiskers. It is very cold out tonight so I am not sure if we should leave it outside in case it is just going for a stroll or bring it in and put up flyers. The cat had no collar. If you are missing a cat, we found it at Brooklyn and Dean.

Seeking advice!!

    I would bring it inside and put up flyers (although I would hope that if anyone legitimately lost him/her, they would put the flyers up). Too dangerous/cold on the street for a friendly kitty! It's advisable to keep it in a separate room from your cats until you know there's no FIV/FELV. It also never hurts to file a Found Report with AC&C (I think you call 311) and local vets.

    I couldn't figure out if it was more traumatic to leave the cat or bring it inside -- maybe it just got out of someone's window? I don't know but we are going to see if it is still down there and if it is, we will bring it in and work on a flyer...

    Please do bring it in. There are a lot of rescue services that will help you. And maybe he/she poor little guy belongs to one of your neighbors. Please check back on this board - there are a lot of people that will help you. And please check back and let us know what happens...

    I went outside again and she wasn't there. I feel bad that I hesitated but it was in this courtyard behind my building (granted, accessible by other buildings and the street)

    I hope she made it home. Should she show up again, I will bring her in.

    So, the cat was back. I left out food and water and a box filled with towels so she could snuggle up but I can't bring her inside--that night I had about 40 people over and already had two cats running around.

    Now I am not sure what to do because I have no good way to separate them and can't foster her. Can anyone foster this cat if I am able to get her in a kennel?

    She is just a few months old, looks relatively healthy, very snuggly tuxedo medium hair. She did nibble on my friend. We are calling her "Chance."
