Are you sure it wasn't crystal? The kids do love that nowadays.

Dude, if you lived in NY in the 80s, you wouldn't say that, even as a joke.
-

First correct answer gets a beer from me at happy hour this week. -

"east 100s or 90s playground" is almost close enough, but you lose points for calling Keith Haring "that guy who died of aids or something." -

150 st river side park -
Not that anyone's still looking at this thread, but the mural is on 128th street between 2nd ave. and Harlem River Drive.
The park is officially "Crack is Wack Park". It's even got a Parks Dept. sign. -
I'm fairly positive the people in the building next door are baking SOMETHING funny in their oven. They used to have garbage bags up on the windows but someone tore them down so I can now see the totally empty kitchen (completely, empty, no shelves, no dishes, no food, nothing) with JUST the oven. I can also see 3-8 people gathering around it nightly to stare at whatever the fuck is going on in there. I dont ever actually see them eating anything. Plus judging by the wide array of people coming and going at all hours and the 3 foot tall pot plant growing in the backyard in the MIDDLE OF THE EMPTY GARDEN, I cant imagine that they're up to anything legit
I'm just glad its not a meth lab. Those things will take out a city block
It does make me sad though, they have 2 little boys living there

Out of curiosity how does one know if something is a meth lab?
I live in a townhouse and there used to be some really shady shit going on above us. -

I've heard it's a really strong stench, in the ammonia/cat pee family
meth lab smell
and I thought most of the manufacturing was happening in rural areas, including plenty in upstate/westernNY
"Buy Crystal, Get HIV Free" was the tagline of an awesome ad campaign a couple years ago . . . -

That's only true if it's synthesized using a metal catalyst such as lithium (called the "Nazi method", because it was used by the Germans during WWII to produce methamphetamine for the Luftwaffe). Other methods, such as low pressure hydrogenation (rarely used) or the red phosphorus method (the most popular method), do not involve ammonia.
meth lab smell -
because of the size of this plce I would be able to SEE a meth lab- although easy to set up, they require quite a bit of space. Stench aside....
