Apologies if this is already covered territory, but does anyone know the story behind the demise of Mailboxes of Park Slope (on Flatbush Ave)?

This freelancer will miss it!

  • Yes, they charged too F@#&king much.
  • Thanks for the link to the whole story, Mamacita. What a shame...
  • Mail Boxes of Park Slope closed 10/17/08 due to eviction. For more info, call the city marshal's office 718-423-7500 George Essock badge # 58.
The Staionery/copy store on 7th & Flatbush will be doing Fedex. The landlord's office is in manhattan, Landlord is...312 Flatbush Avenue LLC.
No one knew it was coming, but the owner Adam Williams didn't have the decency to inform the customers or his workers.
Shame on Adam Williams, however I still wish him well.
  • the copy store around the corner started Fed Ex already or its confirmed they will? Hopefully so.

how can I get in touch with the owners? My stuff is there. Found a new place in Fort Greene on South Oxford Street.
  • Now that FB is gone on Washington and Flatbush Mailboxes too, I have converted to Away We Go Postal on Washington. They are lovely people and give excellent service. I like that you can pay $10/year plus $2/package for them to accept deliveries.

  • Does anyone have new info on how we can get stuff back? I left a box with those guys to be posted a couple of days before they closed and it never made it to the destination, so I'm now thinking it's still stuck in their back room and really want it back! I called the marshal's office but they said they can't do anything without knowing the eviction number which doesn't seem to be posted there. Anyone else have a similar problem?
  • There's a sign in the Adelphi station post office on Fulton that says packages from Mailboxes of Park Slope can be picked up there until Dec 6. It wasn't clear whether they meant packages sent to or from Mailboxes.
  • I used Away We Go and they were pretty good. Complicated media mail/customs form thing and they did a good job with it.

I see that the one dude from Mailboxes now works at the stationery store.

  • What is the cross street for Away We Go? I trid the number lited here but it is a fax number. I do a lot of ebay sales and I need a new place that will ship media mail for me. Thanks!
  • if this is the place i'm thinking of, it's near shane's -- so, st. johns?

i was there last week. everyone was very nice and helpful, but i was surprised by how much the whole thing ended up costing. also, i believe the rate they quoted me for accepting packages was something like $25/year.
