Alma's is a good place, but even when I lived in Carroll Gardens it was a bitch to get to.
  • I ate at Lobo in PS a while ago and got like the worst service ever... the waitress seemed nice and all, but she messed up our order, didn't replace our chips when we finished them, and then we could find her to get us ice water when our mouths were burning from whatever spicy food we ordered. The food wasn't bad at all but the lady got the wrong dinner (which she enjoyed, she's a trooper) and we just felt pretty neglected for the whole time. We surmised that it might have had to do with the fact that neither of us were drinking, since it seems like that place might do a lot of margarita business.
  • I recently ate at Lobo, the service was good for us but my enchiladas were kind of soupy.

The woodwork benches are actually nicely done in there.
  • How many chips do you need?
  • Subject: CLEMENS!

on PPW and Windsor, 2 blocks south of the traffic circle.

amazing mole. some of the best mexican i've ever eaten, and green sauce to die for.
  • I LIKE Lobo.
I have yet to have a problem there.

    : (
  • count me in on the Lobo haters.

crappy greasy Tex-Mex, pretty bad service and over-priced drinks.

was, against my better judgement, recently talked into stopping at their bar and it turns out my least favorite bartender for Patio has moved across the street to take up residence there now.

One more reason never to go again.
  • The new mexican restaurant on flatbush at the corner of st. marks is surprisingly pretty good (the one with to go awful sign). The bartender, Bill, is super cool. It's nicely spaced and has a pretty good vibe.

I think it is a decent place. Unfortunately, some people on this board don't seem to think so.
  • Los Pollitos Dos is really very good! When promted to get the guac, say "yes yes and spicy please"
  • burrito bar:

not bad at all. I had some of their margaritas (ask to have them made less sweet and with more tequila - the barkeeps will do so. otherwise they put a dribble of tequila and ORANGE JUICE in your margarita. puke.) and their chicken fajita salad. yum! and my friend had their fish tacos, black beans and rice, and she declared them all extremely delicious. so, aside from my first margarita which was too sweet and practically a virgin (oh man, trying to avoid some good off color jokes with that description), I actually am giving the joint a thumbs up.

Surely, you wouldn't say best Mexican (sorta) restaurant in the nabe though, would you? I guess unless you're only counting PH and not PS as "the nabe," in which case the only competition is Yummy Taco.

I just went there for the first time a week ago and also thought the food was quite tasty. Had a couple of margaritas that didn't seem overly sweet at all and I don't think they contained any OJ; maybe it depends on who's tending bar at the time or something?
