Tomatoes, blue cheese, croutons and onion (ya left that out) mixed with good greens is the food that was no doubt blessed by god and served to baby jesus. One of the most sublime food combinations in the world. You get that one perfect bite and.......

sundried tomatoes, blue cheese, croutons, avocado, chicken and balsamic vinagrette.
damn "you people". It's too cold to go out -
I'm talking side salad - no chicken there. But I give you avacado and balsamic. And I ain't going out tonight.
-
And once again I derail a thread. I'll just shut up. Back to Luscious!
-
no no you didn't derail anything...! the make your own salads is one of the highlights of this place, as far as i'm concerned!!

I do like make-your-own salad places and there is a dearth of them in pretty much all of Brooklyn, so this is good news!
-
Is that the proper usage of dearth? It just came to me. Huh.

I hate to rain on this parade, but I've tried the place and found it horrible. Maybe at lunch time the salad is still fresh, but that wasn't my experience. I was craving a salad about 2 weeks ago and had someone pick one up from there on their way home. It arrived with all kinds of great ingredients like you describe, but they had been placed onto a pile of rotten field greens. Nasty.
On the plus side, I will say the balsamic dressing was very good. I saved it for a salad I got elsewhere the next day. -
UGH! Just came home from Luscious. I picked up an order to go. One of the restaurant owners' friends (or extra-super-special customer) came in with a dog. A DOG. I said something to the cashier and she acted like I was a lunatic. I said something to the owner and he just went "HUH?" And finally I said to the dog owner directly, "that is a violation of health codes." And the dog owner just said, "yeah, yeah, yeah."
OH, did I mention that the dog was a black lab? Sure, I'll let the ankle biters at Gorilla slide. But this was too much. Luscious is a restaurant. Gorilla is just coffee.

Rant over.

i don't understand the problem -- unless the dog was washing dishes with his tongue. many countries allow dogs in restaurants and no one seems to mind or be the worse for it.
-
LOL. After giving it some thought I realized I overreacted and that my real problem was that he was breaking a rule. It apparently triggered something in me and I lost it. It was clearly my problem. I'll admit it.
Howdy, Stranger!
