MTA's budget cuts-- Brooklyn Bus Service Reduced
Subject: MTA's budget cuts-- Brooklyn Bus Service Reduced
I am not sure if anyone saw this article in the Daily News this morning... but it looks like the MTA is looking to reduce bus service in Brooklyn to help balance there budget...A few of the buses that I take in Crown Heights B65 and B69 will have eliminate weekend service
Discontinue weekend service on the B2, B4, B7, B16, B24, B48, B57, B65, B69, B71, B75, Bx8 (Sunday only), Bx18, Bx20, Bx33, M21, M22, M50, Q14, Q31, Q76, Q79, S42, S54, S57, S60, S76, X27 and X28 bus routes.
Plus the B45 will no longer have overnight service...
Discontinue overnight service on the B7, B14, B31, B45, B48, B57, B64, B65, B67, B77, Bx10, M1, M2, M16, M22, M23, M42, M50, M66, M79, M96, M102, M103, M104 and Q30 routes.
The weekend service on the B65 is going to effect my weekend transportation-- I often see many elderly residents using this bus on the weekend running errands or going to church.
I just wanted to give you all a heads up on what some proposed changes that may take effect in 2009.

I called the MTA Assistant Director of Community Relations today. What a putz. He didn't even have the wherewithal to put on his best "customer service/PR" voice when I called to complain about the B61. And he fed me the same damn line I've been hearing for about 6+ years - "The B61 doesn't come on time a lot because the bus line is too long." Sorry, that line doesn't work with me after 6 years of hearing its. If the bus line is too long, then shorten it!
And forget about calling Joan Millman's office to complain about a bus line....
Does anyone have any suggestions for how to affect the B61 bus line so that I can actually make it to work in the 40 minute timeframe it should take me to get there (each way) rather than the hour and a half each way (no joke) it's now taking me? -
I take the B45 and B48 all the time! I guess technically I could do without the B45, since where I go is accessible by train (I like taking it to Target and over to Court St), but the bus is so much easier. But the B48? COME ON. I have to get from my place off Classon to my friend's which is off the G fairly regularly, and the B48 makes that trip so much better.
I'm so mad at the MTA this week.
Howdy, Stranger!
