THIS IS SO URGENT! Please call 917 754-3537 immediately. ADOPT PETAL AND LINUS OR FOSTER ONE OR MORE LIKE THEM! Petal is a four month old male kitten that was rescued seven weeks ago in Prospect Park along with his sister and brother. Rake thin and skittish when we found them, we fed them for four weeks until they warmed up to us enough to take them home. Now Petal is really outgoing, playful and has a big personality. He startles easily, but bounces right back to playing again. He is quite the attention seeker! He is small and very cute and like his brother, also has gray and white tabby markings. He has been neutered and is up to date on his shots. He is currently in the care of Molly at 207 299 2439, please give us a call if you would like to view him. This dalmation / lab / pit is OMG! Is this little guy adoraaaaable! So well behaved, house trained GREAT with dogs, cats and kids is the perfect size for your nyc apartment. The Queen Elizabeth collar is just until his neutering stitches are out next week. Wish you could look into his eyes and see how adoring they are. One small issue we are working on is he barks at passerbys. But his tail is always straight up!! He is still a little warey. Other then that he is just a lovely dog who will lay his head on your lap for eternity if you let him. To meet Buster in Kensington Brooklyn (near Park Slope) Call Laurie at 718 789 6865 or 917 754-3537. This pet is up to date with routine shots. This pet is already house trained. This pet has been altered. <hr> Adopt Max. From the foster parents who must give up Max: "We fostered, with the hope to adopt Max for two weeks and love him so much! We had no idea our building (and its uninformed residents) would have a problem with a Pit Bull even though he has done nothing wrong." He is 1 1/2 yrs old at most his paperwork says... he is nuetered, up to date on shots He likes to sleep in the bed with you, but could learn to like a doggy bed if you dont want him on the bed (It's so hard to resist though!)... He will cuddle with you on the couch, and give you kisses to show his appreciation. He loves childeren, as you see in the pics, other dogs.. but is VERY active and will not tolerate just sitting in an apt or house all day...He needs exersise, so if you are a runner you have a running partner. Max needs a special person/ family who can love and work with him... If you or anyone you know thinks you could love Max like we have, please contact Laurie Bleier at 718 789-6865. To learn more about Max first hand call me, Allison at 646-620-9440. <hr> FOSTER OR ADOPT ROSCOE The Mush Face Pit Bull Terrier who thinks he's a Shitzu! Roscoe is just an incredibly awesome dog. He is all red with the most beautiful face and olive eyes. He loves to give kisses and brushes against you like a cat. Which he may have learned from the cats who really like him. He is taken to the park often. He sits happily on the grass watching everyone in the park doing their thing, from the birds pecking at the ground to the kites flying high in the sky. As you can see from the pictures he is incredibly gentle with other dogs and the kids adore hime! He also loves to run, if you are a jogger, he’s your guy. He has had some training is getting pretty good on a leash and does respond to basic commands. This boy is a keeper and deserves a forever home. To meet Roscoe in Kensington Brooklyn call Laurie at 917 754-3537. I envy the people who adopt Roscoe the Rascal! This pet is up to date with routine shots. This pet is already house trained. This pet has been altered. <hr> Adopt Pokie aka Bowie An English Bulldog Mix??? Pokie, also known as Bowie because of his one blue eye's in desperate need of a foster or forever home. Pokie's last foster home could no longer keep him and we now have him at a boarding facility where we are sure he is being cared for well. But we cannot do this for long at all and we don't want to have to take him back to the shelter. When I picked him up from his foster home he recognized me and jumped as high as my chin to greet me. Everyone watching was laughing hysterically at how happy he was. To be on the other end of Pokie's love is unforgettable. He's smart as a whip! Pokie loves to play and get belly rubs. He loves people and is great with older kids. He is just a curious little guy, as you can see below with his blue and brown eyes. This American Bulldog Mix hunk of love is the perfect mix of a wanna be tough guy and a real Romeo. He would be a wonderful addition to anyone's life who is willing to shower him with love and attention. We envy the people who adopt Pokie! If you'd like to meet Pokie, please call Laurie at 917 754-3537 But dont forget to fill out the adoption form at: http://fs12.formsite.com/bafn/form401662302/index.html?405846789 Home without cats preferred This pet is up to date with routine shots. And wait til you see how utterly beautiful this creature is! Montey is a 9 month old bundle of everlasting love and tranquility when he drops his head on your lap. He plays nicely with other dogs and kids and his coat is just so shiny. Wherever he goes he gets oohs and ahhs. He is slim and athletic in case you are runner. There is just not enough we can say about Montey. To meet Montey in Park Slope call Laurie at 917 754-3537. <hr> A TEN MONTH OLD COCKER SPANIEL WHITE AND BLACK PICTURES TO COME Owner lost his job and must move. This is urgent! Details to come if you can help this young boy! <hr> FOSTER OR ADOPT YOUNG WIILLARD A SHEPHERD PIT MIX Willard is a male brindle white chested /shepher/pit mix. He is about 2 1/2 years old. On 10/4/08, a police officer found Billy as a stray and brought him to the Shelter. Billy doesn't like being in a cage, but once you spring him, he is sooooooooooooooo happy. His fur is satiny soft, which leads us to think he's younger than his estimated age. He likes to explore his new outdoor environment, and once satisfied, he sticks to you. Billy is also calm around other dogs: quite the gentleman. He has no handling issues, and adores being petted all over. He weighs 48 pounds. Isn't he handsome? Willard just adores everyone, kids, people dogs and cats. I would recommend this lovely guy to nice huge family because he has so much love to give around!! Adopting a pet is a lifelong committment. Foster first to see if it is right for you! There is no charge to foster! Just treat the animal as it was your own, and follow BAFN guidelines*. By fostering for BAFN you also open up a spot to for another deserving animal. LEARN MORE ABOUT THE GREAT BENEFITS OF FOSTERING. Visit www.VictimsOfCircumstance.org/

  • Is that the same Buster, who was accused of biting someone in the Oct 18th posting, Bit by Adoption Agency Dog ?
  • Oh just stop. I am fully aware of Laurie's reputation around here but seriously, these guys deserve a home, don't they? I heart Buster, Petal, WILLARD and Linus and would take them in if I could. There was a big fire in the Bronx at a pet store tonight where many animals were destroyed. Lets just support the people who are trying to save them. Seriously there are no pit bulls biting people on a public web site and regardless of what you think of Laurie and BAFN, this might be the best forum for what she is trying to do.
  • I asked a simple question about a dog that a poster claimed bit him and the organization offered him $35.00 for the pants that were torn, is it wrong to inquire about a dog that might bite someone who adopts it.

voodoo, much as i hate to get back into the fray...

if people stop getting animals from BAFN, it will have the same effect we're trying to have on places like pup slope: the puppies and kittens there need loving homes too, but by *not* buying them we send the message that the way they got there isn't okay.

i don't believe the way BAFN conducts itself is right, and their continued presence on this board, as it's been, confirms that belief.

    this is just my opinion.
  • Brooklynpotter, yes you should let sleeping dogs lie. Do you think by putting BAFN out of business that some other rescue group will pick up the slack? Will you sleep better at night knowing you were instrumental in forming an effective boycott that caused BAFN to simply release all of their animals back on the street? I can't believe you would compare a store that sells puppies in the window to people who in all probability live in abject poverty because of the work they do for unwanted animals.
  • i guarantee you those animals won't end up being let loose on the street.

and if you *choose* to live in poverty so you can save animals, that's just ridiculous. i'm not saying poverty is something most people choose, but that statement's a little sweeping. somewhere there has to be a line drawn between humans and pets (and trust me, i don't know that i could love my cat any more than if i'd given birth to her myself), but i do understand the difference.
  • Potter, I hear you. And I am not in any way defending Laurie's actions on this board which were completely counter-productive to her cause. Only defending the right of these guys to find a safe and loving home. But I do see your point.
  • Subject: I have know BAFN and Laurie Bleier for 10 years

I am appalled at the total lack of disregard of the animals that urgently need homes you people (especially the woman (?) with her index finger pointing to any child who might come upon this post) have shown.

It is 28 degrees out and there are litterally thousands of homeless creatures in Brooklyn and that you would even contemplate ruining the possibility of a home for one of them is heartless.

The man who started the post about Buster biting him is the very man who created an obviously anti dog site http://credo-ny.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

He has claimed to be bitten in every borough. You just took his false claims and ran with them for days. Did even one of you bother to meet Laurie at one of her adoption events. No I didnt think so.

Do you have any idea how many animals Laurie has placed in the four years she has directed Brooklyn Animal Foster Network. More than 2000!

I called her about this page and she said dont do anything it just makes them more vicious.

But I will anyway. You people are disgraceful. Im embarrased to be on the same page with you.

gee, another first time poster friend of BAFN

1: i am a woman. likely twice your age and obviously twice as well educated.

2: it's my middle finger, not my index finger, and the picture was taken when i was 14.

3: nobody said this site was SFW, or children

4: i have rescued plenty of cats in my time, including my own.

let's please stop twisting around the whole point: we all love animals, we all want to save animals, some people who do so are irresponsible and they make other foster networks look bad.

perhaps all the friends of BAFN who keep coming here to blast all of us should take their energy and go find homes for more animals. that's really how to do the most amount of good.
  • Can we all focus on the dogs and other animals that need help. One look at the stickies here on this board and you can tell there's an urgent need for good homes. Let's not derail the thread folks, as much fun as it can be (haha! I know ya'll!)

Let's spread the word around our friends and family that there are good pets just waiting for a warm home. Hint, hint, I have senor don gato that's available
