  • Double yay! So sorry you had to go through that while recouping from surgery.
  • Thanks for all the support everyone! I am so warm and cozy right now...and in my own apartment--imagine that!

I don't know how to copy other posts into my response, but Ana you are welcome to bring the big guy over any time. My fat Pug would love the company, as long as she doesn't have to share her food!! :pig: Oinkers!
  • party at LittleGal's house!
  • I believe I am being punished for suggesting that anyone just put on another layer. We finally turned pout heat on and it DOESN'T WORK!!!!! Grr.

hah! Take that you yoga loving tree hugging, vegetarian! ...that's what get for calling us all yoga hating, tree cutting, meat eaters!

Note: To my knowledge Scarlett did none of the above (and I have no idea of her preference for yoga, trees and meat). I work at Union Square, and have wanted to go on such a rampage at Whole Foods, but have resisted because the yoga people have been nothing but nice to me so far (but give them time....). Until then, I sit in wait.

Note 2: Scarlett, that sucks. I hope your landlord is able to fix it soon. It is cold.
  • WOW! Um, yeah, I do like yoga and trees and not meat, but um........

Sadly we are both going out of town and if that heat ain't fixed by the time I roll back in I am gonna be sooooooooooooooooooo cooooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllld!
  • scary...

P.S. If you eat at Whole Foods in Union Square, beware of the guy who is muttering the following things under his breath:

    1. What gives them the right to not sell me Diet Coke!
    2. Why are all these people here?
    3. Why are there no other Indian Restraunts around here. Why do I have to come here for Indian?
    4. This food is yummy.
    5. I wonder what their reaction would be if I asked that they offer bacon cheeseburgers?
    6. Lady, stop reading the ingredient list and just buy the item.
    7. I wonder if I could conterfeit a NYU cash cards.

P.S. your pipes may freeze if landlord does not fix heat. Causing huge mess. This is worse than being cold.
  • Ha ha! I always have a nicer time at the one in Chelsea - you should go there!

Oh he will fix it!!!! He lives here too and doesn't want his loud little children to be without heat!
  • Yuck, Scarlett. Obviously I so feel for you. Sounds like a similar sitation, but you held out a little longer then I did. My LL turned on the heat in the building in Oct., but I don't like too much heat so I never opened my vents until it got really cold a couple of weeks ago and...nothing. At least I'm all set now. Hope you get things settled soon.

If it makes you feel any better, I was washing dishes tonight when i realized my feet were all wet so i opened the cabinet doors and saw my pipes broken and leaking everywhere. Took me an hour to clean it up and i have yet to reach LL or "24 hour" repair line where I c=am supposed to be able to leave a message. Oh well.

    Good luck and stay warm!

  • Littlegal, that sucks. Sounds like you may be ready for a new place!

We got back late Monday night and lo and behold, the heat was not fixed. The thermastat was laying on the kitchen table just as I left it.

I called the landlord Tuesday morning, wrapped in an alpaca blanket and tried to convince him that he needed to get the heat fixed that day and let him know I was pissed that he hadn't done it while I was gone as promised. They don't even celebrate Thanksgiving - what the heck was he doing for a week?

Anyway, the same noncommunicative, nonhot dude came over and after a couple hours the heat is fixed. But let me ask you this- doesn't it sound ominous when the landlord says "OK, the heat is fixed, but if it stops working or the thermastat falls off the wall, let me know."
