Cat/Pet Insurance?

I have the VPI premium plan. Its something like 200 bucks per year, but that's fine because routine checkups for my 2 cats are somewhere in the area of $280 per visit, and that's without shots. I think last time the insurance covered about 50% of the cost, so I felt like I got some benefit out of it.
Even if your pet doesn't have a serious illness, it just takes the animal getting cut and needing stitches, or developing some sort of illness to sock a hole in your pocket. I'd rather be safe than sorry. -
That is perfect. I also have 2 cats, so this is great.
Thanks! -
Does anyone here have ASPCA insurance or Pets Best? Are you happy with their service?

Careful -- pet insurance is one of the biggest rackets going. You really need to weigh the risks of your pet getting various ailments vs. the premiums these companies charge. 9 times out of 10, you will find its not worth it, and you would be much better off putting a set amount of cash into an interest-bearing account that is to be used ONLY for the animal's care. It takes discipine to do this, so make sure you have it. :pig:

Subject: Pet's Best
I have Pet's Best for my dog. We only just got the insurance (and the dog) this summer after shelling out $6,000 trying to keep our last dog alive. It's about $11/month and covers everthing except the normal stuff (check ups, vax, etc). But at least I know that I'm covered if something awful happens. And so far they've been pretty good. I think they cover a flat 80% after the $100 deductible (some only cover up to a specific amount per item, and the price in NYC is always higher).
Also beware of insurance companies that consider anything that happened to your pet in the previous year as a "pre-existing condition" this year. -
I have VPI. I have a 50.00 deductible and it covers 80%. It also covers all the routine shots and visits. I think I pay like 35 a month for it.

I applied for ASPCA insurance for my pooch and he was denied! They told me I could get a basic plan in case he needed surgery or something, but they denied him their mid-grade plan after they talked to our vet and found out he has had skin issues. Ugh.
