I'm being forced to watch Rosie O'Donnell's variety show. Happy effin' Thanksgiving. Damn it.

Blah. Don't know yet how I'll spend it. I had plans that *just* fell through. Which was the worse possible time. Had they fallen through on Monday, I could have made other arrangements. Now I don't quite know what I'm doing.

I am, however, going to bake a cake tomorrow morning. If, by some miracle, I have some place to go, I'm bringing it with me to share.

Otherwise, I'll sit at home and eat the whole damn thing myself.

lilbangladesh,,,, you sounded so sad.. I hope you have a nice Thanksgiving Day whatever plans you have or do not have.

If I were up in PS, I usually have a "widders 'n orphans" Thanksgiving because my kids are with their dad's family. This year I'm down in DE because my mom just had hip surgery. It'll just be the two of us - I'm stuffing turkey breast with lump crabmeat, bread crumbs, garlic and parsley and poaching it in chicken broth and white wine. Just because we're a small party doesn't mean we have to suffer.

Oh no! Some of my favorite Thanksgiving memories were the small gatherings. One time I cooked Thanksgiving dinner for three of my friends and it was the BEST DINNER EVAH!!!! We had so much fun! And we didn't even have booze (this was back in the days when I could still drink) because one of my guests was Muslim. I swear we got drunk on turkey.

I hate being put in the position of a latchkey, but I'm so grateful for your kind words and invites.

AND I did get up this morning and bake a cake. Which I'm glad I did because it put me in a more cheerful mood. Something about beating eggs, I suppose. It's out of the oven now and cooling and it's BEYOOTIFUL! It's a Costa Rican rum cake. I can't wait to share it.
