Hi everybody. I moved to Sunset Park in July after getting out of college. I was wondering if there were any other younger folks around here or Greenwood. Every now and then I'll see a hipster or two on the subway, but I figure there's gotta be more around. Going into Manhattan every weekend to meet up with my friends is starting to get pretty old.

    Unless it's changed drastically in the last few months, the lack of anything to do bar/coffee shop wise was the reason we decided against moving to the area.

    I live in Greenwood and there are plenty of young people around. Are you closer to Greenwood or further south? 5th Avenue has tons of bars and restaurants....have you done much exploring on foot?

    It depends where you are but Im in greenwood on 21st street and depending on the night:
    Quarter bar can be a pretty cool hang.. on 5th b/t 20th and 21st some queers, some hipsters, some singles, and other creative types along with some young professionals... seems like a good mix and a pretty young crowd, or at least mixed. Quarter rules in the summer when the back is open. They make the BEST rosemary margaritas, and other bousie or hipster-ish type drinks- but they are actually delicious!!
    Toby's on 6th and 21st seems to have a good mix, you have your couple of queers and sports fans and younger singles. pizza and beer.

    Ellis bar just opened on 5th and 18th.. looks cute in there. Anyone know what the crowd is like? young old? couples singles?

    Roots cafe 5th and between 20th &19th- It replaced cafe sutra. I was in there today, It has a very cool vibe. coffee and panini's and some breakfast stuff. The owner says at night he will have some live music and maybe a byob policy.

    c'mon over to greenwood! support the local biz 'round here :)

    aw man....cafe sutra closed...man i know it's been a few weeks since i've been out since my kid got sick but how'd i miss that...

    i loved their free wifi...and while southside may have had a larger crowd..i loved sutra..it was usually dead and when I needed to get out and get some work done...it was perfect!!

    the cemetery really makes it hard for places to get a strong foothold IMHO, and strangely enough that's where there is so much residential...i've lived here all my life, just bought my parents house about 2 years ago and trying to convince the wife to give it some time...being from miami and having lived in carroll gardens and boerum hill, it's a tough change with nothing "trendy"...but then again we have a 1 1/2 year old now...we are no longer trendy.. LOL

    there will be a small hipster scene here soon. just give it a year. every day i see more hipsters strolling into work at 12:30
