PS Sports Bar? — Brooklynian

PS Sports Bar?

Hi all.

Wondering if anyone can suggest a good, fairly rowdy sports bar that might be showing the Redskins game tomorrow. My hubby is a freak for the team and looking for a good place to go watch it in the hood and have a few brewskies & nibbles!

thanks.

  • 200 Fifth is a nice spot - great food - lots of tvs - but a big Giants hangout :)!
  • and I would stay away from The Carriage House, that place looks kinda scary!
  • 200 5th usually has a pretty good 'skins following, too... good food, lotsa beer on tap, also.
  • 200 Fifth is definitely the place for large scale rowdiness and pretty good eats.

The Lighthouse at 5th and Union has small scale rowdiness if 200 Fifth is just too crowded. They've recently added more screens.

I think that's the place a couple blocks down, between Carroll and Garfield Streets on Fifth. I keep reading "Costa Rican barfood" on their chalkboard outside, but never when I actually want some...since it's on the way from Bonnie's.
    Anybody eaten there?

Went to 200 Fifth and we LOVED IT! Lots of Redskins fans as mentioned, my husband was in his glory. Thank you SO much for the recommendations PS board people.

We are def going back there (and their veggie burger rocks).

    thanks again for your help!

The Lighthouse is one of my favorite places. Lots of taps and very friendly.

However, the food is merely adequate bar food, which means it tastes really good if you're trying to blunt the effect of too many pints, but it's not a food destination in and of itself.

What I've tried of the sporadic Costa Rican menu is underwhelming. Some variation on fish tacos.

The burgers are good, but nothing like Bonnie's.The teriyaki turkey burger is probably their signature item.

  • Lighthouse is usually a good bar, but it depends on the bartender. I was in there on a Wednesday for a rare night out with my wife (we left the kid, stroller, and babysitter at home). They decided it would be cool to turn the TV on to an old Seinfeld and blast it. If I want to drink beer, watch TV and not talk to my wife - I can do that at home!
