Holiday Trees In The Slope — Brooklynian

Holiday Trees In The Slope

Hi all,

After a week of traveling for Thanksgiving, my family will be back home in the Slope on Sunday night. We have decided to get our first ever tree for the holidays and we want a real tree; we're hosting a tree trimming party on 12/6. I live very near 5th Ave and 3rd Street and have seen tree salesmen there in past years, but does anyone have a link to a schedule or map of Holiday tree sales in the Slope? I would love to be able to get a tree on 5th Ave and 3rd if they are on sale in time, but am more interested in finding a list of options. Does anyone know where to find this info?

Thanks for your thoughts!
Tom

  • the CVS on 9th ST put up racks for fresh trees yesterday so I'm guessing they'll have some out in a day or two.

2008 - Annual Cub Scout/Boy Scout Christmas Tree Sale - at J. J. Byrne Park & The Old Stone House

Boy scouts and cub scouts will be doing the annual fund raising Christmas tree sale the first three weekends in December. We will be selling from 10am-6pm with the shifts being split up between 10am-2pm and 2pm-6pm. Your time is very important to us, please get back to me with your availability as soon as you can. The more shifts you can pick up, the better. Those without time, please make a financial contribution to Pack 14 or Troop 14. This event pays for 70% of all scout activities

    Saturdays & Sundays: December 6-7, 13-14, 20-21

Many types of trees, all sizes and shapes, reasonably priced!
100% of the profits go to support the Scouting program.

  • Also, Lowe's and Home Depot - usually very fresh and way cheap. I like to support hte local efforts, but frequently I'm traveling till the last minute and can't.

  • I love the ones from Vermont, sold outside the Coop, Union St @6/7 Ave. Fresh, pesticide free, same super nice people for years.
(And not actually connected to the Coop, so you don't have to be a member.)

    No idea when they arrive.

  • The guy by CVS is very expensive for Christmas trees , I like the people who set up in front of 5th Avenue key Food better. there are also some people who set up by the Atlantic mall, they are also well priced.

  • We've had trees from the Atlantic spot (the one on Flatbush, corner lot) a couple of times. For the size we wanted they only had the cheapos, which had a great price but I must say did not last very well and never seemed super fresh.

It seems like all the places I asked in the past had similar prices (including 5th Ave Key Food) and they were all much higher than the Atlantic spot.

I love Christmas tress, so even though I'll be doing fun stuff, I'm a little bummed that we won't be home enough to go to the trouble of a tree this year.

  • How much is a midget sized tree usually cost? I only need a small one. Had seen the boy scott sale before, thanks for the reminder!

  • At the Flatbush/Atlantic place I think we paid in the $15-30 range for about a 4 foot tree. It seemed a lot bigger once we covered it in lights.

  • "Holiday trees"? I think it's time to start a "War on Christmas" thread. Can anyone get Mr. O'Reilly to start posting?
  • hey, bigguy, don't be a grinch.
  • baahh humbug! :santa: :rendeer:
  • You all know you want a hot pink Christmas tree. I'm such a trendsetter.
  • Uh, no. Ew. It's just wrong on so many levels.

  • I might mix it up this year and do hot pink and lime green.
  • Forget O'reilly, it IS a Christmas Tree.

That pink one looks like a Hello Kitty tree.
  • Don't hate, embrace!

Indeed. The couple from Vermont that sell in the church at Clinton and around Baltic are amazing as well, if anyone is in that area. I've been going to them for years.
