Walgreens

I wrote the people at myrtleavenue.org to see what the scoop was. I got email from them on 11/7 saying that walgreens was waiting for a plumbing inspection to open, and that it should be "any day now." And that was like... almost 2 weeks ago.
Hopefully it will happen soon....? -
Walgreens itself has been stocked and ready for weeks and weeks. Even had dairy ordered that it had to throw out. Between the inability to sell the apts in that building and now pissing off it's main commercial tenant...the building is in bad shape!

Walgreen's on Myrtle doesn't effect me one way or the other, but KGirl, who is that in your avatar? That's just all kinds of adorable.
-
it really sucks to see that wallgreens not open yet. i was so excited to see those signs go up esp when farmer in the deli started closing mad early. that corner needs a place thats atleast opened later. granted they wont serve up the sandwiches farmer in the deli does, but atleat you cant get a pack of smokes and not hit the atm.
-
indeed. does anyone have more information on what the hold up is? so mysterious...
-
they really should take that sign down that says they're opening shortly.
I've gone there at least 3 times in the hope that they're actually going to open 'shortly'. -
i've seen a lot of activity there in the past few days and also trucks delivering (i think) perishable stuff. may be a good sign. fingers crossed.

Plumbing inspectors are notorious for holding up business openings, probably in order to make sure the graft is spread around equally.
Rudy G - if I can say nothing else good about him - did manage to control the garbage and waste haulers in NYC. If Mike Bloomberg can control the plumbing mob we might actually have a nearly habitable city.
Think it can ever happen? In this economy, holding up inspection for payoffs is criminal. There are at lest 20 people who will be working there, and additionally the franchise owner is losing money bigtime. As little as I love Walgreens, this is criminal. -
the walgreens is open! I just went in today.
It's a Christmas miracle! -
What is the cross street of this Walgreens?
Thanks! -

does anyone know their hours? need something now...
i haven't been yet - how is it? -
I was underwhelmed. They have just basic pharmacy stuff and pantry food items. And Walgreen brand batteries.
But no pillows, or allergy control bedding or therapy medi-beads or much of the stuff they list online. They didn't even have wash scrub pads for your face.
Plus the Walgreens brand floss I bought gets stuck in my teeth. -
And its overpriced that the regular duane reade by my workplace in the city.

i too am so underwhelmed with Walgreens. after waiting for months on end for them to open, i find the store a major disappointment. the help is rude and surly (was in there yesterday morning and there were at least 8 people in line, one girl working the register, and at least 4 other employees, including the manager, yucking it up around some stupid cosmetics display folding table they were setting up near the front of the first aisle). the stock is meger at best and they are always out of things - especially when they are on sale. the only thing i'm liking about this store is that there is finally a decent place in the hood for greeting cards and photo developing. beyond that - pretty big disappointment on all levels.
-
Its not too bad. I'm happy to have them.
-
Gotta figure they just opened. Things can be rocky at the start. Granted they should be more on top of things like being prepared for running out of things that are on sale. But it's a new store, give it a chance. Is it 24 hours?

I live by this Walgreens on myrtle, I'm not that far from it, I went there the other day, Just to get some cd's I couldnt find them, the girl I asked Pointed into some direction I couldnt even find them, They are close to a bottom shelf, a guy at the register was counting the money from the Register out in the open and got scolded for it.. It was quite an expierence to say the least.. I agree with them being overpriced.
