they do this in casinos in Vegas sometimes, too. it cracks me up. like at 5 a.m., or so, they just start "dealing" a game of war. it's like blackjack for dummies. the casino generally makes a fortune, too, since they just double up the winner and take everyone else's money. I can't wait til ESPN starts putting that on TV.:lol::lol::lol:

You'd be SHOCKED at how long these me were playing. My boyfriend and I played the 1st hand for the novelty of it but the luster soon desolved  Sill, I like the idea of it. There's a bar in Bayridge that has keno on the TV and you bet right at the bar...

Monopoly's just not very interactive and it just goes on and on for hours. Anything with a million little pieces and too much to keep track of is just a bad idea.

my issue with monopoly is, like scrabble, a winner/team of winners is established pretty early on, and then it's just boring. like, way boring. or at least, that's me. I like winning, or getting multiple chances at re-establishing a lead in a game. and yes, I'm a rather sore loser when I'm bored and stuck in a game I don't feel like playing. HOWEVER. enough people show up at happy hour that we could have multiple games going, and knitting, and whatever else people want to do. I mean, when 15 people show up, it's really hard for everyone to play the same game.
  • Why dont you guys just play quarters or asshole
  • That sounds dangerous! I'll play with water!
  • I have a dinner thing on the 11th, but I've been meaning to get out to a happy hour and meet some of you guys sometime soon. If you have games again next week, I just got the 90's edition of Trivial Pursuit and can bring it! It's harder than I'd anticipated -- or maybe I just killed off a lot of brain cells in that decade.
  • For the R&S fans:

Does anyone have "Don't Whiz On The Electric Fence"?

That would be so totally our speed for happy hour!
  • can someone fix the calendar entry on the front page? it says we're going to be at Soda tonight, which, erm, we aren't.
  • oh my lord am I in need of a drink tonight. though I think I may have the attention span of two year old after so I may not be up for games.
  • Mrs. Carnivore and I plan to be there around 9:30ish.
  • Carnivore wrote: Mrs. Carnivore and I plan to be there around 9:30ish.
Yeah, I think that's my ETA, too. I need to feed the cat her meds.
  • Does anyone go earlier? My dinner thing for tomorrow night fell through so I'm quite tempted to show up, but it's damn near impossible for me to make it out the door on a weeknight once I've already been home from work a few hours. You think I'm gonna put a bra and shoes back on once they're off? Pfft.

    Edited to add:
Oh, crap! Never mind. I thought all along this was for Thursday. I have people coming over to watch Project Runway every Wednesday night for the next month or two.
  • I'm perpetually late on Wednesdays cause I have a pretty steady appt from 7-8 p.m. near Times Square. So I generally come around 8:45 or 9, but when my cat sick, I want to go home first and give her meds before I go out. :D

oh, and people frequently come earlier. I think the most steady group of folks lately, though, tend to come later.

Oh man, I love PR. I just got into it 2 episodes ago, but it's great! I catch the reruns if I remember, but usually just read recaps.

Anyways, I'm aiming for around 8. I get to stay at work until 7 today. Woo.
  • I won't be there until 11ish which is way late for me but I am stuck at a late dinner in the City. See you then...

    You're kickin' it Carnivore-style!
  • next week... watch out, going to bed already... before 10pm, wtf?!? soda next week? come on... back to soda..
  • So, erm, games didn't happen at all. Ah well. It was still a good time though.

Next week at Soda! And I've heard a rumor that DH has a first year anniversary coming up soon...
  • *note the breathy voice*
"happy birthday, mister dailyheights, happy birthday ... to ... you"

    so where's the party at?
  • Candicissima wrote: So, erm, games didn't happen at all. Ah well. It was still a good time though.
What no games? Lame!!! I need something to keep my hands busy besides a glass of cider. I'm not into paying for seltzer.
  • May I suggest taking next Wed's happy hour to Freddy's for the 3rd wed of every month karaoke extravaganza? The event is hosted by Yarn Guy and myself and it is usually pretty fun. It's comprised of a mixture of bad singers and really bad singers and cut and run is not an option. It is another option in the games v. no games debate.
  • I don't personally like karaoke, but I do like seeing people make asses of themselves. We can put it to a vote after the weekend.

seems that in essence you do like karaoke.
  • I vote for another Brownstone Billiards night! Air hockey, pool and ping pong. I still owe nybt some more ass-kicking...

Plus, we can brown-bag it! :P
