Somehow, I don't think you find it sad. And what kind of response are you still waiting for? -
EasilyFound:
It is odd that you ask me questions to expand a conversation from terrorism to history and WWII, and when I take the time to reply to you in a genuine manner, you have no response. Frankly, that is troll-like behavior. I think it is you EasilyFound who are not genuine. Shame you can't lift yourself from snarky behavior to real discussions about serious issues. -
Flexi:
Do you think it is cool to refer to yourself as a "Windsor Terrorist"? Frankly, I think it is sick, but I guess to each his (or her) own. -
Maybe I can have the last word here. Let's see.
-
The last word on what? Can you be more specific? Still waiting for your response to all of those great EasilyFound questions I took the time to answer. Shame you can't engage in discussion.

christ.
dexter, enough. your original post, plus the ones left for brownstone jew, were meant to incite all kinds of argument and anger. that worked, congratulations. (or, to use your wording, shame on you for starting all of it in the first place).
you'll see that nobody is coming back to continue this dialogue--why do you think that is? (though i have a feeling flexi hasn't woken up yet because your comment to her was out of line and while i won't presume to know how she'll respond, i have a feeling that had she seen it she'd find a very intellectual way to rip you another one).
just stop it with your taunting and your snarkiness and your george bush avatar (meant, i am sure, to incite more arguments). nobody is coming back to deal with you because you are acting like a petulant 12 year old troll -

Brooklyn Potter: You say my avatar is meant to incite arguments, yet your opening line to me was "christ." While I am Jewish and don't pray to Jesus, I would never use such a term because it severely offends many. You yourself have an avatar of someone giving us all the middle finger. You really have no moral high ground here bro.
So, if I understand you correctly, I am sure gonna get it if someone takes the time to stop being snarky and to actually respond to my genuine comments in a polite and respectful manner. Well, I am still waiting for that.
Your online confidence suggests that brooklynpotter is some sort of moderator. If so, I get a kick out of watching folks flex their internet muscles. Color me unimpressed.
Dexter is acting genuine. Dexter is of the highest moral character. Dexter disagrees with brooklynpotter but will not use a term like "christ" which is only used to offend those with strong religious beliefs.
To quote REM, "think of others, the others think of you."
Dexter -
i'm not a mod. nor do i speak of myself in the third person. nor am i a "bro"
that pic is of a 15 year old girl giving someone the finger
get over it. snarkiness under the pretense of being concerned for human life is pretty annoying.
i'm outta here. -
i think we forgot to say WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !

Artie Lange reference? That guy is hilarious. He was on Fresh Air with Terry Gross a few weeks back and was a great guest.

Should we assume Dexter is your real name, or have you taken that from the cable show about a serial killer? -
Flexi,
I am still open to a polite and respectful discussion with you, when you are ready.

Still waiting for you to engage in conversation Flexi. I have answered all questions asked of me in a genuine manner. And you respond with snark. Shame you are unable to engage in polite and respectful conversation. When you reach the point in your life where you are able to politely discuss this issue with someone who may not agree with you, Dex is here.
-
Seriously, as much as BrownstoneJew might be amused that for once one of his threads has garnered so many responses, Ya'll making yourselves look dumb.
Dexter, I suggest you end it by just letting it go, you're only making yourself, at this point, look bad and creating a bad name for yourself, this goes for Easyfound as well....
my 2 cents... PS... both Flexi and BP trump you all as long time board members, I suggest you don't mess with them, they're tough cookies. :P -

You can wait all you want. Nobody cares. Have fun by yourself. I don't choose to engage with you - so you can think whatever you want of me, it truly couldn't matter any less. -
Mamacita,
Are you suggesting I should be concerned about having polite conversations with people like Flexi and BP because they are board members? That doesn't say much for Flexi and BP, now does it? Should I worry about being "moderated" or banned because I have a different opinion on a matter and defend it in a polite and respectful manner? That would be sad, but I see your point. Flexi is not very interested in having a polite discussion about a topic she weighed in on numerous times. I can see how she may play the, "Agree with me or I will moderate you game." That is funny. Internet muscles are always funny.
Flexi: For someone who doesn't choose to engage with me, you are sure doing a lot of it. At some point, you may be ready to engage by actually sharing ideas in a polite manner. Until then I am sure you will come back on to engage with me by saying, "I don't wish to engage with you."
Some free advice Flexi, if you are going to enter into a conversation with someone like Dexter who is polite and genuine, you may wish to actually engage in a constructive dialogue.
Peace.
Dex -
No one is moderating anything or banning anyone, that ridiculous.... Keep on keeping on if you like, my previous post was my personal opinion.
Keep rockin on dex, fight the power, tee hee :P -
Mamacita,
Your previous post sounded like a warning of sorts. Excuse me for taking it as that. But folks are getting pretty shrill here when faced with ideas or answers to questions that they do not agree with. Frankly, the Brooklynian seems to cater to folks who seem to all share the same thoughts, like the Cylons on Battlestar Galactica. -
Dexter. blogging on Brooklynian is a bit like masturbation, a necessary evil. If you choose to join the Circle Jerk you must stroke with the rest of us.
-
Modsquad,
Well, I think your response is fine for most threads, but this thread is supposed to be about standing together to remember those who have fallen victim to terror. What started all of this nonsense is that I applauded brownstonejew for his memorial service and then made the suggestion that in the future, he consider honoring a specific group of people targeted by terror by remembering all victims of terror. I stand by my original post and am shocked that folks would be shrill about it or suggest that I am not genuine for wanting to remember all of those people who have fallen victim to terror.
Be well,
Dex -
You applauded brownstoneJew for his memorial service?! You applauded his "efforts" and the went on to say that you don't see the point in the memorial service being planned..
"I am not sure I see the point in remembering..." -Dexter
For the record, the same organization that made this memorial has held numerous events in the past in response to other horrific terrorist attacks. This one was scheduled in response to the MOST RECENT tragedy. A point easily understood by the average citizen.
At the very least, the posting of the memorial service accomplished one objective in awakening dexter from his/her INACTIVITY in the wake of ALL past terror attacks. When finally, Dexter sees a posting about something being done, the only thing Dexter can do is find some unfounded criticism.
Dexter you are welcome to make a memorial for all victims of all terror attacks going back to Cain murdering his brother Abel. Don't cop out with your online posting plagiarized solidarity event. Do a real one. Until then either support the ones actually doing something or keep quiet. You of course can express your opinion regarding anything on this forum but, by doing so, you also will remove all doubt as to your level of intelligence. -
brownstoneJew:
My concerns are anything but "unfounded." Terrorist attacks occur across the world, in places like India, because terrorist attacks have been tolerated and supported across the world. Even the NY Times refers to some terrorists as "militants." Doing so means that terrorism is sometimes okay. My concern is that by remembering only SOME who have been killed by terrorists, we run the risk of endorsing this "some terrorism is okay" belief that is really the fuel for future terrorist attacks. You can be indignant all you like brownstoneJew, but my views are well founded, genuine, well intentioned and deserve more respect then you and others are capable of giving.
As far as your level of intelligence goes brooklynJew, I will not weigh in on that because that does not promote productive dialogue and is a low class way to go.
Peace,
Dex -
Well, I'm just a quiet newbie lurker, but I'll say this...
Mr. Dexter: posts are more or less forever. If you had the chance, you'd surely undo your "I am not sure I see the point" comment. Clearly the purpose of your post was to put someone down after he did a good thing, solely because it did not address your own concerns. You could have espoused your cause without harming others, and made friends here instead of enemies. Now you're caught in a self-reinforcing feedback loop of contempt, which grows with every post you make. The good people here will certainly require a full confession, and demonstration of humility before your name will have the mud scrubbed off.
This thread is not about, in your words, "standing together to remember those who have fallen victim to terror". This thread is about... you.
Think before you post. -
Camaysar:
You wrote, "Think before you post."
Being rude is not exactly the way to persuade. I suggest you follow your own advice bro. Such anger makes me think you are more concerned with yourself then with the topic of the thread which is remembering those who have fallen to terrorism.
Peace.
