Rye bread suggestions? — Brooklynian

Rye bread suggestions?

Has anyone purchased rye bread at any bakeries within walking distance (20 blocks or so) of Pheights? I was going to make some but I don't have time and now I am in fear that my tempeh reubens tonight will be on storebought bread and I will be the laughing stock of the entire community and perhaps even the world.

  • I love the bread at Caputo's on Court Street (between Sackett and Union) but I usually buy Italian bread there. I think (not too sure) they have rye and pumpernickel.

Also Key Food on Fifth Avenue has a great selection of fresh bread - I would try there first.

Good luck - and you tell anyone who laughs at you to watch it or the Baking Brigade will be after them :) 8)
  • OK cool, I can call them and see if they have rye. Thanks!
  • Isa, tempeh reubens are fantastic on the "rustic roll" sold at the coop.
    I'm guessing you're a member...

(they are in the bagel bins)
  • Blue Apron on Union or Union Market. They both have Amy's Breads.
  • D'ivine Taste on 150 7th Avenue has great rye.
