Safety In Numbers: Prospect Park After Dark Dog Walk Meetup

I'm new to the hood and Brooklyn but I came here partially so I could be near Prospect Park for my pooch. Only trouble is that it gets dark so early and it is probably not the best idea to be walking in Prospect Park after dark alone (even with the dog).

I've found a dog walking buddy for the evenings but she's not always around and is going to be away next week so it struck me that perhaps there are other lone dog walkers who might be more comfortable venturing into the park after dark (say around 6 or 6:30) if they had some company.

So, anyone care to form a Prospect Park dog walking meet up. Either to just hang out on Long Meadow near Grand Army Plaza and let the pups play or walk to the opposite end of Long Meadow (near the Windsor Terrace Side of the park) and back during off leash hours? I usually go sometime between 5:30 and 6:30 depending on what time I get home from work. Anybody interested?

  • I'm only occasionally in the long meadow with doggies at that exact hour, but as you probably already know, there's a steady stream of dog players.

In case you don't work out the Meet Up (a good idea) . . .
just wait at the entrance for a couple of minutes and go in when someone else does. Then you get the benefit of dogs from the Slope and PH.

    :D

ps I have a single female friend that goes after 7p all the time by her self, and her dog is no toughie
