Robbed at Gunpoint
I don't know the source of this note but on my front door is a note stating that a "Beware. A male white was severly attacked and robbed at gunpoint a few doors down."
I live on Prospect Place between Carlton and Vanderbilt.
This is on top of the incident on that block mentioned here a few weeks back. Wondering if this block ain't for me anymore.

Called the precinct and they don't have any report of anything on this block but maybe paperwork didn't go through yet. Or this note is bogus. Maybe someone wants me to move. I do have best apartment in my building. Who knows.

That is incredibly weird.
-
weird.weird.weird. can you file a report about the note itself?!

Hey dev!

This is suspicious to me because it describes the victim rather than the assailant -- my vote is prank.
Not to say it couldn't happen, though. -
It's kinda fucked, yeah.

Yes, that sounded off to me, too. It's not much of a warning, is it? "OMG, look out for that white guy! He got mugged, he's really dangerous!" I mean, what's the point?
Do you think someone in your building hung it up? -
The phrasing is weird too "a male white" not a white male.
Not sure who put it up. Very odd. -

could be my neighbor. he was mugged on the corner of vanderbilt and park a couple of days ago. said the guy had a weapon or something in his pocket. but he wasn't attacked at all. said the guy was actually pretty ok in the end. didn't take anything but his cash.

He said the guy was actually pretty ok in the end?
The victim sounds like a nice guy. -

well, he didn't say it quite like that. what he said was of all the ways to be robbed, this was was the best possible way. The guy could have taken his whole wallet, his ipod, his camera, etc. and instead, just took the cash. which amounted to $10.
The victim sounds like a nice guy.
not saying the robber is a good guy at all. but that it was an ok mugging on the scale of how muggings can go. -

That phrasing is standard for police radio traffic.
Not sure who put it up. Very odd. -

But "severely attacked and robbed" is not. -

to be robbed at gunpoint is certainly feasible, but to be severely attacked at gunpoint would require the attacker to have either an accomplice or really, really long arms.
And I'm not feeling that period after "Beware." A colon perhaps?
