I just got back from a manicure/pedicure and waxing. I go to Flatbush Ave (Is that PH?) - 7 nails I think it's called. I have had good experiences there and it is cheap. Special offer for women manicure and Pedicure $14.99.

Try Polish Nail Spa on 5th Ave at Underhill. It's a relatively new salon that does mani/pedi's, waxing, tanning, and chair massage. I don't know if they do facials or full body massage.
The women are really sweet there, and the prices are great. I get a pedi/mani/10 minute chair massage for $30.50 (tip not included). I can't get out of my favorite salon on Manhattan with this combo for under $80! -
?? Underhill doesn't cross 5th, does it? Do you mean Union or something?

I think its on 5th on the corner of Sterling Place or Park Place. I havent been in there but it looks really nice.
In the PH area, I think Seven Nails is the cleanest and they do a pretty good mani/pedi. I have been to those other two places on Flatbush between Prospect Place and St. Marks (one is near the Indian restaurant Joy, the other is across the street by the store that makes fresh juices) and they would skeeve most people out. DIRTY!
There is also a nail salon on Flatbush by the end of 7th Avenue (next to Chase bank). That one is ok in a pinch. -

Oops...Yes, that's 5th Ave and Sterling - right across from the Key Food
Sorry about that! -
Polish seems to be very clean, and the space is large. It does get a little crowded on Saturdays and in the evenings, so the earlier you go, the better.
7 Nails is clean, but it's been a while since I've been there so I can't recall the prices to compare to Polish.
I've been to a few of these other small places and they skeeve me out, too. -
i agree that the polish place is good; if you want something swanky and spa-like, the D'mai Spa on 5th, a few doors/blocks from the Polish place is very nice for a wax, massage, manicure, whatever, and not very expensive either

i went there for a pedicure and asked the owner if she sterilized the instruments between customers (and the owner, who didn't look polish btw) said "no" in an offended manner, "i don't know where you get your nails done, but each girl has their own instruments."
Okay, but they use them on different people, so they should sterilize them each time. So, fyi, they don't sterilize the instruments and I left not wanting to get nasty nail infection.
oh well, i guess it's back to manhattan for a pedicure....
