Cafe 400: A preliminary scope-out
Last week walking past the door to Cafe 400 on Nostrand at Sterling, I noticed the doorman, and inquired about business hours, reservations and the menu. He suggested I go upstairs and have a look around. The owner was there and greeted me warmly. The large open plan of the floor included a long bar on the Nostrand Ave. side, a spacious dining area, and a large video projection screen. It seemed like the far end could be used to set up a band for live entertainment. The dining tables were all barstool height wood tables.
The menu showed a choice of reasonably priced ($12 - $20) entrees.
It strikes me as the kind of place that can get pretty loud on a Saturday night, what with all the hard surfaces and large speakers, but that just might be what we need to save us from the occasional winter cabin fever on Park Place. We plan on giving the place a try for dinner at our next opportunity. Has anyone tried the food?
BTW, there is a dress code posted on the door that specifies no sneakers, Timberlands, do-rags and some other no-nos I don't remember. Also, expect a quick frisk before entering, so leave your Glocks at home.

I've wondered about that place myself, let us know how it goes.

I was there for an event about three months ago. It definitely has potential. A lot of space, several flat screen TV's, a couple of bars, fishtanks, etc. A great place for a party if you need a space than can accomodate a hundred or more people.
