car smashed on Putnam
Our houseguest was awakened on Sunday morning (Jan. 15) between 6:00 and 7:00 by the sound of a car crashing into one of our neighbor's parked cars. The driver sped away in a black four-door sedan with the front of the car very badly smashed and our neighbor's car left also smashed. (This was on Putnam near Classon.)
Has anyone seen the car that might have hit our neighbor's parked car? If so, please write back.
Thanks!

I assume you've reported it to the police? If that guy happens to get pulled over they can trace him back to your neighbor's car.

Yes, our neighbor filled out an accident report, but I don't think the police will ever find them without a tag number. Our neighbor doesn't have collision insurance so she'll have to pay for this out of pocket unless they find the guy -

Kevin - Im sorry to hear about this but make sure your neighbor checks with, I think, Victim Services. Sometimes they can help victims of a crime with monetary assistance. This money comes from people who commit crimes (i.e., money seized in drug busts, chop shops, etc.). I had a friend who was mugged of her cash and she had no money to purchase food, etc. and Victim Services cut her a check for a few dollars less than she lost. I think they have an office on Court Street. -
Related story (kind of): My dad (who lives in Maryland) had a friend who was a victim of a hit and run. A few days later cops pulled over a car that had been in an accident. It matched the description of the hit and run, and the paint on the car matched the paint on the wrecked car. So they charged the guy. Sometimes you get lucky.
I'm very sorry to hear about what happened to your neighbor's car. -

Thanks for the tip, I'll forward the information to her
