Ciao from Italy

edited November -1 in Bay Ridge/Bensonhurst
Hi everybody! I'm Davide from Verona, Italy, and I'm 34. I've been in Bensonhurst last june (during my vacation in New York) and I hanged out the streets around but I didn't know where really I could find real italian-american people.. The streets in the morning are quiet deserts, and I didn't find any italian club or pubs where I could come in, watch Italy soccer match and get on the people. I found a club nearby the Colosseo restaurant to watch Italy soccer match but people aren't very hospitable.. So I had to go back in Manhattan to see the match, 'cause really I didn't know where go. I found very pretty Bensonhurst, I don't know why but it come into my heart and I'd like to come back, a day..
I'm writing here hoping to meet some italian-american people to chat..
Could you tell me if this is the only one Bensonhurst's forum or site?
Ciao a tutti!
Davide

  • This is really more Bay Ridge oriented than Bensonhurst. Just like the streets in the morning, this forum is very quiet. Most posts don't have any replies.

If you want solid information about Bensonhurst,go here: http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-york-city/

That is a very active place. Do a search first before posting. Good luck.
  • Carroll Gardens still has an Italian population, you might have fun hanging out there.
  • 18th Avenue in the 70's (near Colosseo) has some cafes that show the matches.
  • Thanks a lot everybody! You're very kind to me, to explain things I didn't know... I would like to do a question for Mamacita: where's Carrol Gardens? I've already herad it but I don't know where is it and qhat is it (is it a neighborhood like Bensonhurst?). I've been to the cafe near Colosseo, I think it's the same you're talking about, Kikintina.. Could it be Sorrento Cafè?
I thought to find a lot of italian people in Bensonhurst and, yes, of course I found many italian people but not so many I supposed.. I found a lot of other races and I dont' saw a lot of "italianity".. I hope a little better, but the neighborhood is really pretty! You can taste anyway the italian air..
I'll try the other forum you told me, manic_depressive..
But...are there some italian-american person here? Neither one?

  • There aren't any Italians in Bensonhurst. There are the children of the children of the children of the children of Italians who mistakenly think they're Italian, but other than that there are very few if any around. Bensonhurst WAS, not is, an Italian neighborhood.
