I noticed the sign was down as well, let us know if you happen to speak with anyone working on it about what it will be.

hey, at least it's convenient, right? That is, if it's turned into a nice place. I wish I had a bar right across the street...oh, wait, I do. Revise that: I wish I had the money to go to the bar right across the street from me.

What a high quality photograph, Mr. Tips. Much respect.

Subject: Utopia...
Did anyone go there when it was bumpin? this would have to mean at least 2 years ago, has been painfully mellow for a long time now... a cool club could be kinda neat but truth be told I rarely even went to Ripple when it was happening and that place WAS cool. it sucks to see business's fail but if this one does again, it'll mean more quiet on the street, drunks love to chill on my stoop and have loud conversations after leaving the bar roun 3ish. no love for those folks even when it's me.

according to that shitty article that got everyone all riled up, it was a sketchy sports bar with folks drinking whiskey out of straws. but then again, that author is not exactly an authority, given his schizophrenic fear of and nostalgia for "the REAL prospect heights."

I went there once while it was a busy bar, back then they searched everyone at the door for weapons and what have you, which is understandable seing as the week I moved here I heard semi automatic gunfire comming from the that side of the street. It was pretty crowded and we were obviously outsiders ( and the only white people in there ). but it wasn't bad
I walk my dog by there pretty much every night and have for 2ish years, I'm interested to see how this pans out. -

I walked by Utopia the other day... and there was someone standing in the doorway. As soon as he saw my friend and I walking by, he quickly slammed the door.
Made me wonder... what's the big secret?? -
my super, who seems to know everything happening in the general vicinity, told me it was being converted to a jamaican bar and restaurant. not sure if he is right or not... time will tell. but thats the skinny I got.
-
Well that's kinda dumb, there's already one on Washington, the tiny party place that is next to where Ripple was. that place is often really busy, jamacan food and party music and so small that the party spills out onto the sidewalk, kinda cool, no frills at all.
if I see anything interesting I'll say so. I'm keepin a close watch on this one, walk past it every day. -
There are already at least 5 jamaican restaurants on Washington already.

I walked by around 2am last night and they had music pumpin... but there was no one standing outside... or anything... and the windows were still covered. -
Yeah, I was walking home around midnight and the music was crazy loud. Saw a guy walk up to the door, look around a couple times, unlock the door, then slide inside, locking the door behind him. Hmm...
-
I walked by at about 11:30 and saw quite a few people inside... and yeah, they did look like they were being very selective/secretive about getting inside.

it's officially open, I forget the name but it's a "sports bar/ restaurant" they opened for the super bowl. I'm not sure if it's because they wern't open yet but like others that have posted here, I have seen people in there and heard music playing but if I ever caught one of the guys at the door's eyes the cast me a dirty look and quickly closed the door. could be because I'm a honkey with a mean lookin dog or more likely they are just not friendly. go figure. I don't wanna go to their stoopid sports bar anyway, buncha jerks :x
annother new yet not as exciting shop on the block is "Optical Options" under the Au Bon Soire sign. the street is becomming rather medical, not a bad thing I think. just not too exciting.
