High efficiency laundry detergent
Does anyone know any local stores, preferably in the South Slope, that have HE laundry detergent? It's the low sudsing kind recommended for use in front load washers.
I checked Rite Aid and a couple of bodegas but didn't see any. If anyone has seen any and could let me know, that could reduce my wanderings from store to store looking for it. Thanks!

if it's supposed to be eco-friendly, you might check Back to the Land

CVS? I think I bought some there.... but I can't remember 100%.

Fairway and/or Lowes will have the best prices if you can get over there. Otherwise, Back to the Land sells it for sure. Did you check Union Market?

thanks for the suggestions...I will probably check Union Market and then head down to Back To the Land if they don't have it. I'm excited about trying about my new washer!

If you are close to La Dolce Vita I think they have some HE detergents. Otherwise I usually go to CVS and buy the 3x concentrated All detergent for HE washers. It's a lot lighter to carry.

You can just use less of the regular kind when using a front loader - I have that kind, and use Seventh Generation. But maybe that's HE, I don't pay much attention since the machine isn't brand new anymore....oops.
Key Food (Fifth Ave, sorry it's North Slope) has HE detergent. My washer came with a bunch of coupons for detergent, so I spent a little time tracking the stuff down too.... -
Pitu is right. I just use less of the regular stuff.
I've used Purex detergent for years with good results. It is Cruelty-Free and no phosphates. I just got a a 46 load container at Target for $5.50 (they also had the HE but much more money per load). The HE though doesn't have the sudsing agents in it the regular detergent has. The sudsing agents are only added for the psychological effect. -
Thanks everyone. I like the idea of using less of the regular stuff. I also found some Tide HE at the small market on the corner of PPW and Windsor Place. I was buying something else but thought I'd check just in case and they had it.
I washed my first load and it was quite something watching it. I shouldn't get this excited about doing laundry.... -

In an effort to keep you happy, I am more than willing to do the neighborly thing and bring you over my dirty clothes
