lost--sterling bracelet. heart broken, GIANT reward
do we have a lost and found on this board?
on saturday night, somewhere between my apartment, the walk to the F, the F, the walk to the restaurant on the LES, and back again, i lost my most cherished of all belongings: a silver bracelet that belonged to my grandmother. thick and wide and heavy with a flat wide clasp
i know the odds of finding it are tiny. i've scoured the house, called the restaurant, posted on CL, etc. but i wanted to post here. i have a picture of it. and if anyone finds it and finds me i'll gladly offer up big $$.

Hope someone returns it.My niece lost her wallet a few months ago and it was returned with the money and everything in tact. There are some honest people out there. I know how you feel and I pray someone finds it in their heart to try to return it.Try contacting the 78th pct. They have a lost and found.
-
Try the MTA lost and found as well, good luck
-
Also suggest posting fliers on the walk between the subway and your apartment, in case it came off in the street.
-
will call mta lost and found tomorrow, and post pics on the street.
very, very sad -
Hope you find it BP!
-
Just a little empathy. Most of the "bling" we own can drift in to the void and we can survive but a bracelet that has been passed down in a family is so special. I hope the universe does return this to you Brooklynpotter.

thanks everyone. i know it sounds really dramatic, but i feel as though i've lost a friend.
-
so... am making l flyers and putting them out later.
no results from CL posting.
called MTA lost and found and they say i have to wait 7-10 business days for anything to even get to them.
if i could find a way i would plaster all of nyc and the internet with my flyer.
i know that is extreme, it's merely a bracelet that happened to mean the world to me. and i am kicking myself for never putting a safety catch on it -
any flyers posted on public polls will be removed.

Way to go newbie, making a bad name for yourself already. -
Public "polls" are likely to be few and far between now that the election is over.
Learn to spell, newbie! -
Booklaw, I applaud you. Your custom self-description is spot-on. I've seen you police syntax and orthography elsewhere on this board, and indeed, you are both pompous and an asset.
Your last name wouldn't happen to be Chomsky, would it? "Pompous asset" is an accurate description of so few - particularly when the field is narrowed to include only linguistically conscientious individuals - it seems impossible that you're not somehow related to the apotheosis of that sobriquet. -
Nope. Pomposity goes with my profession... the question is was I pompous before I became a lawyer, or did it happen as a result of? I try to be an asset... it's up to others to judge.
As for the apotheosis of a sobriquet... wow! I stand humbled before your vocabulary. -
ParkslopeCynic won this shit
-
actually. nobody won. nobody found what i lost, then it because a free-for-all for insulting others.
in case you're wondering, my grandmother's bracelet is still missing. merry christmas -
Ah, i was hoping to come in here and read that you found it!
-
Hey Brooklynpotter... I know you understand the vibe here. It is a mixed bag.
There are plenty of us who understand what this loss means to you. Keep the faith and hope the lost will be found. If not.. it is understood that this is a loss that cuts to the heart.
Ignore any response that belittles or just does not understand why you losted this to begin with. -
honestly veets, et alia, i understand far too well the vibe here. usually i find it snarky and annoying and i skip over it. it cuts a little close when it turns something serious to me into an asshole-fest.
(and my orig comment was not directed at those of you who understand, but i'm sure you know that) -
Losing things are tough.
You should try to forget about the material, the silver, and the clasp. I do feel bad for you.
I suggest that you replace it with a better, suitable, albeit lacking in tradition, wonderful silver bracelet.
Perhaps we can start of fund or a phone in telethon to raise the scratch?
Either way don't lose sleep. As they say, move on, don't forget. -

I think, Drunken Revival, that is one of the most glib and thoughtless posts I have ever read on Brooklynian. Gratuitous advice at best!

Perhaps we can start of fund or a phone in telethon to raise the scratch? Really? -
I saw a bunch of activity here and I was hoping you'd found it, potter.....sorry that you haven't!
