LOST DOG-Friendly Pit mix, Prospect Park nr. Wnsr Terr 12/24

My dog Lola ran away from me when I was walking her the night of Christmas Eve in Prospect Park. The time was about 4:45 pm and we were inside the park, walking along the path that parallels Prospect Park Southwest, at the corner of the park near Bertel Pritchard Square.

Lola is a beloved member of our family. She is a shelter dog and is timid, but very sweet and loving. She is about 3 years old, she weighs 45 lbs (medium-sized). She is a caramel-colored boxer-pit-lab-chow mix, very friendly to dogs and people but may be skittish or scared. She has big beautiful brown eyes. She has a small white patch on her chest and white hairs on her chin. She was wearing a purple harness. Unfortunately no tags. I searched the park for hours and posted many signs. The police at 78th Precinct and Prospect Park police have her fliers.

Please contact me if you know here whereabouts or have seen her: sakuraamend at yahoo dot com or 917-355-3531.

Thank you.

  • i’m very sorry to hear about your dog. if i see him i'll e-mail or call you. make sure you leave a flyer at sean casey animal rescue (155 east 3rd st, between caton ave and fort hamilton parkway) lots of people from other animal shelters, veterinarians, and people who work with animals stop there all the time
  • Thanks for the good advice. I'll go over to Sean Casey today. I have heard wonderful things about them. I hope they can help.

I just pray that Lola is in a safe and warm place where she is being taken care of.
  • LOLA HAS BEEN FOUND!

I picked up Lola this evening from a young woman who found Lola alone in front of my building. Apparently, while I was frantically seaching for her in the park, Lola crossed two busy streets and returned to our apartment on her own. She waited for me at the top of the stoop. This young woman saw her and asked people passing by if they knew Lola, but no one had any information. Being a dog owner herself, she didn't want to take Lola to the shelter so she decided to take her in.

She fed Lola and kept her inside in her apartment for the past three days. She saw called me after seeing one of my fliers this afternoon.

Other than being frightened and not drinking any water for three days, Lola is fine and is resting now.

Thank you for your posts and your words of advice and caring. I'm so heartened by the support of the Park Slope community, and especially by fellow dog owners. Thank you for sustaining my feelings of hope during this difficult time! I'm so happy to share this happy ending with you.

I've learned my lesson and am searching now for information on microchipping.

    Thank you!
  • Yay! I love happy endings! Good girl, Lola!
  • OMG I'm so glad to hear this! Wonderful news!
  • Dude and I will stop looking for Lola in Prospect Park.

...Dude was once let off lease by a dog walker. He promptly ditched her, and came home, crossing Eastern Parkway, etc.
  • Thank you so much! I'll be busy tomorrow taking down all the fliers I put up, but Lola will be there to keep me company!
