Questions for the Board

edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
Hey all,

I am thinking of moving to Prospect Heights and have a few questions for the board:

1) Are there places in the hood that are better to live than others? Is it like Park Slope, where 5th ave is kinda cool and still diverse, while 7th is all gentrified?

2) Unfortunately for work I have to have a car. How is the parking situation in the hood? Does this also vary by street or something?

3) Finally, if I decide to move there, who should I talk to broker wise? I know CList is nice and all...but it's all brokers on there anyway, so I might as well go to one and make them work for my money!!!

Thanks for your time, and I gotta give props to the Beast. Went there the other night and really dug it. Tre cool place!

  • I found my last apartment through James. PM me for his number.

I don't think there's any real difference throughout the neighborhood about where to live versus where not to, but consider one thing: Bruce Ratner is intending to build his god-awful complex regardless of the whiny little complaints of whiny little people like us, the actual original residents. So I'd stay to the southern edge, away from Pacific or Dean Street.

After that, use your common sense: some blocks aren't quite as safe as others, but most are decent.
  • Parking: 4 Day ASP. If you drive to work, and work during the day, no problem.
  • If you have to leave your car here during the workday it's kind of a pain because of the alternate side thing being in effect for 4 days... It gets progressively harder to find a spot as people start trickling home from work, and by like 8 or 9 pm there's no way you'll find a spot where you won't have to move your car the next day. Plus, during the street cleaning times, people usually just double park across the street, so if you're in one of those legal spots at 9:30, you can't move your car until 11 because you're blocked in by two people.
  • I dont know, I don't have much of a problem finding parking in the Heights. Also, park slope with their one day a week parking is only a couple blocks away...so If I know I wont be around during the day on a particular week, I move it over there.
