What's the rationale behind bringing your dog into stores?

But I'm not the one crying 'wah, I'm allergic! wah, dogs shouldn't be in bloomingdales! wah, a dog touched me!' am I? I feel the same way about your smelly, unruly, maladjusted children. I still haven't said that I think my dog is a child. No matter how you'd like to think otherwise.

Kids are cute.
Dogs are cute.
Kids in bars? Hell.no.
Dogs in places where they are allowed? Yes ,maam.
Dogs in places where they are not allowed? Not good.
Dogs = Kid? No.
Do some kids act like dogs? Yes.
Do some people love their pets so much that they see or treat them as if they were their own? Yes.
Ok? Now stop with the bullshit.
Leave my Beaver and Oscar alone.
Happy New Year!! -

WOW. This thread has gone into the toilet. Just like Chuck Norris's career.

Happy New Year to all the dog fetishists out there. Hump a leg in 09!

[quote="Anastasia Beaverhausen"]And for the ridculous people who cannot seem to read - I did not compare my dog to a child. In my OP, I stated that my dog behaves better than a lot of children out there. "
Look in the dictionary under COMPARE your highness.
Dogs vs/ kids again? yawn. Just Behave!
However:
1. Dog bites are responsible for over 1,000 emergency room visits annually
2. Some people come from cultures where dogs have been trained to attack. They move to brklyn, and are still afraid of dogs. Respect that.
3. Some people are highly allergic to dogs. Nobody is allergic to kids. (not liking out-of-control toddlers is different)
4. Once you've been bitten by a dog, you don't want to be in an enclosed area with them
5. I don't want dog hair on my newly purchased clothing
6. I don't understand why small dogs are ok to bring in, and larger dogs aren't. It's gotta be all or nothing. I prefer nothing.
7. If you enjoy your dog, you'll take em on walks wherever you go. Condemning folks for tying up their dogs is antiethical to the dog lover who benefits their dog by all the exercise etc..
8. They are dogs. Not people. -

Who's arguing? Besides you?
I find it quite funny that I'm the only one being "attacked" here and I've already stated that I don't compare my dog to kids.
My opinion (and it's only my OPINION) is that most of you with children cannot raise them properly. You bring them to bars (there were a gaggle of them in the bar I was in on Saturday) and let them run willy nilly all over subways, buses, airplanes and expect strangers to think they're cute. I've had kids crawl in my lap while I'm reading the paper on the subway and instead of the parent being apologetic and/or getting their kids away from me, they laugh and say "ooohhh, she likes you!" I doubt I'd get the same reaction if my 70 lbs. dog did that to a stranger. But then, I don't bring my dog on the subway, nor do I allow him off his leash in public. When little Jimmy has discipline problems at school, you blame his over worked, under paid teacher for your short comings as a parent. Or better yet, shove pills down your kid's throat to make him act "normal." As a dog owner, I'm expected to train my dog so he behaves in public. There's no magical meds I can give him that will turn him into Lassie.
Now I've already been called lots of names here (lacks credibility, pathetic and undersexed [which was removed by a mod]) because of the reading comprehension of most on this board. I'm not a kids person. I don't begrudge those of you who nor your right to bring kids into bars - which I believe they don't belong in. Why do your panties twist so hard when you see a dog in a place he's ALLOWED to be?
except that the basic gist was why do some people think its ok do bring their dog wherever the heck they want including restaurants and grocery stores?
which somehow became whether or not your dog s company is preferable to that of the average 3 year old . i dont doubt i would enjoy your dogs company more than the average 3 yr old child. i also have no doubt that the 3 year old child has way more rights. its a human being remember ? -
Chispster, you'll get nowhere. No one can win this conversation.
-
Mama is right. Apparently I can say nothing that won't get me called more names. *sigh*
-
Seriously, you thought you only had to deal with your friends calling you names, now this! Sheesh!
-
at least mama spared you ...can you believe the the "syph chick" had the nerve to call me "dork"?

I guess you think this isn't a comparison because you incorrectly used "then" instead of "than."
Pretty funny for someone correcting grammar all over this thread. -
