Funeral Home suggestions? — Brooklynian

Funeral Home suggestions?

edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
My partner died today. Can anyone recommend a funeral home for cremation? The hospital recommended finding the nearest but I can 't even remember where one is. Internet searches were proving mixed results so I thought I would try here. I live on Underhill near St. Marks.

Thanks,

  • I don't have any suggestions for you but I wanted to offer my sympathies for your loss.
  • Oh mitchell, I'm so sorry.
I'm so sad for your loss. Please take care of yourself, I wish I could help :(
  • I am so sorry for your loss.
There is a funeral home on Vanderbilt Ave., I think, between Bergen and Dean......also, I think many people are directed to funeral homes through their churches and synagogues....though perhaps you and your partner are not connected to a church or synagogue, you might ask to speak with the hospital chaplain/s, who surely will have some ideas....or call a neighborhood church (a Jewish funeral home won't do cremation) and ask who they use.
    Condolences again.
  • Speak with the folks at IJ Morris on Flatbush Ave. We used them a few years ago and they were very, very accommodating. They arranged cremation off premises at Greenwood Cemetery.

I'm very sorry about your loss.

  • My condolences.I only know of 2 .One is House of Hills. They have a location at 406 Rogers and another on St Johns and New York Avenues. Also Woodard on Troy between Fulton and Herkimer Streets.
  • I am really sorry about your loss.
Frank R Bell funeral home is located on Classon and Saint Johns.
Where ever you go try to go with someone so that you have emotional support.

I am also very sorry about your loss, and second Frank Bell. They were very caring and professional with my sisters funeral a couple of years back.
  • mitchell, i'm so very sorry for your loss.

the church/temple suggestion is a good one (while bricktop states jewish funeral homes won't handle cremation, i know many that do--just not in bk)

    please take care of yourself.
  • I'm sorry for your loss. Take care.
  • I want to thank everyone for their kind words and thoughts. I think I will be going with Frank R Bell funeral home on Sterling. I had a very nice conversation with them yesterday. A friend of mine is coming to stay a couple of days but hopefully soon I will meet with you nice people instead of only lurking around this website. Probably TMI but I do appreciate the support.

  • hi Mitchell -- it's not TMI at all. I'm sure this is a rough time so I'm glad you have a friend coming to stay with you. All the best for a better new year.
