She said that time runs right into happy hour and wouldn't be preferable, as asked if it would be OK to change it to 1-4, especially if we can't promise a certain $ amount being spent or pay something for the space.
I mean this in the nicest way, but Fuk em, they'll be getting our drink money and lots of food purchased. I'm not going if they think they're notoriously crappy serviced bar is worth "RENTING"
This was the result of a cold call, though. Do you know the Soda people? -
PS.. I am a professional event planner.....
-
mamacita, i bow to your superior knowledge. my event-planning experience is limited to a single event, my own wedding.
you're right, people will probably buy drinks.
they want a headcount. given how genuinely nice the bartender was to me when i called, i don't want to be rude to them and just say, "people will be there and get drink, so shut up and be happy for our business on what would otherwise be a quiet, business-free afternoon." any thoughts on how i can convey that reality in a pleasant fashion? -
Don't worry, we'll talk to the boss and figure it out. Not a big deal. From experience, unless they is popcorn involved we are are welcomed.
-
So, can we have this when Em is back in town? Are you back by the 11th Em?
-
Yeah , but later in the day.
It's fine ,ya'll have it as planned.
Next time.
Thanks anyway , pookie poop!
-
I only got one present this year, so I have nothing to swap/sell, but I am always up for drinks and making fun of other people's crap! Sadly, I work until 4 that day so I wouldn't be able to join until later.
-
I just moved, so I bet we have lots of swappable stuff.
I'm in! -

I can offer you a casserole of sorts in return. I dont actually know how to make one (mostly because I don't have the dishes haha) but I can learn. Lets see what the response is here, maybe I can trade home-baked goodies for kitchen implements.
i'm sure we can figure out some way for you to get the emeril dishes if you're really really dying for them. though you're right about the orbitz gum. i chew trident.
and no, i won't trade them for trident.
I bought a Super Nintendo.
My only used once almost brand spanking new George Foreman grill is still available. :-'
Inelson , you want it? Give Carmen those Emeril dishes and I'll give you the grill.

id be interested in this swap-meet, but before i commit, can anyone let me know how man Emeril bowl-sets a Nebuchadnezzar of the middling-to-good stuff is going for nowadays?

I'd be in. I have a pair of gold plated earrings, a brown satin evening bag, a cake knife and lots of other stuff a non-fancy gal like me would never use.
-
If by cake knife do you mean an off set spatula or the one for serving a wedge of cake?

I assume it's the kind for serving a wedge of cake, because it's pretty funky. I can't imagine an entire set like this.

I don't have much to trade, but I think I'll end up going anyway.
-
that's the spirit, mougar!
OP here....everybody...since we're not officially renting the space, let's be polite and get drinks. from the sound of this crowd, a drink per person is likely to happen anyway. soda wanted me to guarantee that everyone would buy, but meh. it's a regift-a-thon. beverages go without saying!
(no serious pressure though. abstainers welcome.) -
I promise to drink extra to make up for the prudes.

Crap. I'm going to be away this weekend. Besides, the stuff I have to offer, you guys can't afford anyway. :P -
i know you're all dying for the corduroy/velour track jacket i scored. i would describe its color as "mauve crystal".
(matching velour pants not on offer. they're comfy.) -

Mama will drink one for any female who doesn't.
...I'll drink for the males.
Except for a few outliers, we're covered.
...EM, will you drink for the outliers? -
I don't have anything to trade (unless someone wants the artwork my brother-in-law painted that my sister gave me for Christmas :? ) but seeing as I missed all the pre-holiday/festivus gatherings I'm looking forward to hanging out with you all.
Besides - afternoon drinking is fun!
