Im glad you finally wrote in ....I am so happy that we all are here for eachother after all these years ...that Im afraid if we all dont keep saying a daily "Hello" the site will just die....After a few days gone by and no one writes something or anything .....no one has the courage to type ...is anyone here ??? As far as Prospect Ave .... Im sorry ....but I lived on 17st between 5th & 6th my whole life until I moved here to Staten Island about 16 yrs ago.

Hey Jerry ....my backyard faced Prospect ave ....we had the Prospect Expy in between us. When I got married I lived upstairs on the 3rd floor .... so my clothesline was way up there .....I would go to work in the bank on 9 street and neighbors would come in and say .....Sue Your towels are all over the expressway .....swear to God!

SUZIE, ITS FUNNY YOU MENTENION CLOTHES FLYING ON THE HIGHWAY. I REMBER ONE TIME BEING ON THE HIGHWAY.THERE WAS CLOTHES FLYING ALL AROUND.OMG I WONDER HOW MANY TIMES YOU CAUSED ACCIDENTS . I BET YOU HAD TO BUY A LOT OF SHEETS AND TOWELS...............JEANETTE

LOL....Ohh God ....maybe thats why I worked for 911....LOL
Jeanette ....the major causes for accidents on that highway was always ....water. When it rained or if they had the johnny pumps on ...on Prospect ave ......the highway would get flooded right by 6 th ave ....and thats when the cars started to crash .....Ive called in thousands of car accidents to 911....so sad ...and so many lives lost on that short stretch from 5th - 6th avenue.
I have a video ....for some of the old timers ....before 1960 ....I dont remember this ....but maybe some of you remember it ....sorry if its depressing .....Ill get pump up the music on shortly ...Ill be back !!!!

SUSIE, I REMEMBER THAT PLANE CRASH VERY WELL, I WAS WORKING IN MANHATTEN AT THE TIME. WHEN WE HEARD THE NEWA AT WORK, AND THE PLANE WENT DOWN IN PARK SLOPE. I REMEMBER CALLING MY MOM, BUT I COULDNT GET THROUGH,THE LINES WERE BUSY. I LEFT WORK TO HOME ,PRAYING EVERTING WILL BE ALRIGHT WHEN I GOT THERE. THAT WAS A SAD TRAGERDY, I THINK IT HAPPENED RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

Suzie, I remember the plane crash very well. We were little and couldn't go see it on our own. The little boy who survived the plane crash died at the Methodist and there is a plaque in the chapel with the change that he had in his pocket on the top of the plaque.

We always tried to find fires when we were kids, but they always looked closer than they really were, so we hardly ever got to see them up close.

LONG STORY SHORT ...THEY ALL GET OUT ...THE CAB DRIVER ASKS FOR THE FARE 1ST ...THEN VINNY TELLS HIM TO HALE A CAB FOR THEM ...CAUSE THEY ARE GONNA MISS THEIR CRUISE ... IM THINKING IS EMS NEEDED !?!? K...THEY FINALLY GET A CAB TO TAKE THEM BUT THEY HAD TO SQUEEZE IN WITH ANOTHER COUPLE INSIDE .....SO THEY MADE IT AND THEY ARE NOW OUT ON THE WATER.
