Anyone know of a good Honda wrench local to PH/PS/CH?

Two fold: A back brake caliper that I can't seem to get rebuilt correctly. And a starter issue with the solenoid that needs more adept diagnosis.
  • Your best bet for help is at Prospect Yamaha, the honda dealership went out of biz a few years ago. Theres also Cycle therapy if you are well financed.

The rear caliper I could help you with, was it your first time? Changed the pads? It can be a pain, especailly the first time, but not impossible.

The solenoid issue, you sure your battery is up to snuff? especially in the winter if you habent been riding it might be weak, I had a weird problem with the starter and it went away when I changed the battery which appeared to be changed but was weak. I have a voltmeter also if you need. Do you get that clicking sound when you hit the starter?

    What are you riding?
  • gotta second prospect cycles! http://www.prospectcycles.com

if you plan on wrenching on your bike this weekend, come join me... ill be out front all day tomorrow rebuilding the top end of my kawasaki. we can curse the cold while trying to fiddle with tiny, slippery parts. hahaha.

king cycle (657 utica ave, 718-773-2279) is a good backup too, but not as good as prospect.

Not my first time (though I am no expert), but I can't keep it from locking up. I think the pistons might be bad.

It'll click once. If I put the bike in gear and bump it back and forth, then hit the starter, it will turn over sometimes. You know, we can put a robot on fucking Mars, but we can't make a decent motorcycle battery.

The bike is a 82 FT500. Thumper. The compression is too feckin much to roll it off unless you get it up to about 20mph. No shit.
