No parking for tree pruning? — Brooklynian

No parking for tree pruning?

edited November -1 in Park Slope
Signs are up around where I live (Carroll & 5th) saying "no parking for tree pruning" on Thursday - does anyone know what this means? Is it no parking from midnight to midnight?

  • Call me crazy but I *think* it means no parking for tree pruning. :)

Call 311 - they should be able to give you the hours its in effect if it doesn't say some where in teeny tiny print on the signs.
  • Yesterday on Garfield, they began around 8am and were almost done by 9. As soon as they had passed where you wanted to park, they let you. It made it easier as it was alternate-side that morning so we had to move our cars anyway.
  • Oh I thought they were planting prune trees! ; ) Maybe I'm slow...

I squinted hard but I couldn't discern any tiny print on the signs with specific hours of pruning. Good idea on the 311, I've never used that service.
  • Well so much for 311. I just called them and they said they don't know what the hours are! Aaargh. I guess I'd better move my car tonight just to be safe with all these ticket-happy traffic cops around.
  • The Parks Dept.'s tree-pruning trucks just need enough space under the tree to get the job done (about two good-size parking spaces) and not drop big branches on top of someone's car. They won't get there any earlier than 8am, and will be gone no later than 2pm.
  • They have been pruning like crazy for the past few weeks. Spring is gonna look a little different this year
