What happened to Thai Tony's on 7th Ave 15th St?

They were gone about 3-4 weeks ago. There used to be a sign that said another thai was going to open in that space with the estimated date of like November 20th (ish). So, who knows. This will be the 3rd thai place in a row to take over in a short amount of time.

I didn't notice. I tried them but ended up liking Dice Thai on PPW better. Man that spicy potato appetizer is good...

I ordered from Dice Thai once and it took like 45 minutes. It was not during a busy time either. And I thought it was just ok. Anyhow: here's hoping some great thai place finally goes into this spot! -
Very pleased with the food from Watana last month. Will be back soon...
-
One time I tried to go get takeout from Thai Tony's and while it was normal business hours and people were inside, they were closed. Weird. Plus they had no dumplings on their menu. I love dumplings.

Anyone know of a good vietnamese joint?
-
Well then. I was going to order take-out from Thai Tony's a couple of weeks ago but they never answered, so that solves that.
In other news, I had the lunch special at Beet yesterday (first time ordering from there) - OMG it was good! And dinner-sized portions for like $6.50. Almost ridiculous for lunch.
I hear Sunset Park has good Vietnamese. Specifically around 8th Ave & 51st St. -
Thai Tonys is still open on Ft. Hamilton Parkway in Windsor Terrace. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. But for take out the best Thai in Brooklyn is probably AM Chili Basil on MacDonald Avenue. Unfortunatley NO atmosphere but great food to take out. So pick up the food from Chili Basil and eat it at Thai Tonys and you will have a great night out in Windsor Terrace!

That little spot on 7th and 15th seems to die pretty easily. I'd like to see something good open up. We have enough thai and sushi on the blocks around there, and please, not ANOTHER nail salon!
-
Brawta Outpost was overpriced and kind of lame, but I wouldn't mind seeing another Caribbean place in the hood.
-
Wow, we tried AM Chili Basil last night. It was DELICIOUS. Definitely my new go-to place for Thai, even though they dont' deliver to the Slope.

I just had those Drunken Man Noodles and they are really tasty. Finally Thai food with some flavor! -
drunken boodles rock--and they're the reason, actually, that i never ordered from thai tony's more than once: the noodles were FAR too drunken, they were swimming

So venture further out into Brooklyn and order from AM Basil Thai or whatever the hell it is called. Their food is great. -

The space that used to be Thai Tony looks like it's nearly ready for its debut. The new place is called Fueng Far and will be another Thai takeaway.
IMHO, it looks like a lot of work was done only to result in a space that .... um ... looks a lot like Thai Tony.
Still, I'm always down for more, good, Thai in the neighborhood and I like the funky takeaway concept. -
I normally like Watana, but I ate there a few nights ago and was horribly disappointed. So I'm hoping Fueng Far can either provide good thai, or at least provide competition to force Watana to keep up their quality.
-
I like Watana. Never tried Thai Tony's (say that 3x) and Beet is boring. Am thai chili basil looks like it will take forever to decide:
"Such is the case at Am-Thai, where the elephantine bill of fare extends to 130 dishes in 11 categories—and that's not counting the options multiplier, by which any dish can be made with shrimp, fried tofu, chicken, beef, whole or filleted fish, duck, or even mock duck, making over 1,000 choices in all.."
Oh, and for the record a nail salon er spa is going in where Root Stock was. -
Oh my god, how many "nail spas" can we take? I passed by the nail place going in where Bird used to be and the new owners (I'm assuming) we're talking outside. I had half a mind to tell them to please set up shop somewhere else... I mean, how many nails need to be done in this neighborhood?
-
it's becoming just like the town i used to live in in jersey. nails nails nails.
-
Fueng Far appears to be open.
-
We ate at Fueng Far tonight -- very enjoyable! Fresh, bright flavors. Not highly sauced. Mmmmm

nice to know... I picked up a menu. looks good... maybe try for lunch tomorrow. -
Hmmm. I'm so confused. Is this the same Thai people that opened up the last two restaurants? It all looks the same. Even the menu kind of looks the same.
-
tastes very different. i actually liked this food a lot, versus the past two places, which i didn't
-
ok. Thanks. I'll try it before I move.
